I know I have talked with some of you in the past on here and i have appreciated the help . I was wondering what some of the bow hunters were seeing this year down around bull valley and molly's nipple area or up under the white mountain any info would be appreciated . Was also wondering if any other member of this forum have a manti early riffle tag that will be hunting down in the same are that I am asking about . thanks in advance guys .

I saw and got video of a bachelor group of 8 bulls below white mountain over the fourth of July between the ledges and Skutempah. Two bulls were 6 points one may have finished in the 330-340 range with good growth, the other probably would finish in the 310-320 class. Also found several bulls in the bogs on the west side of white mountain closer to Mary's Nipple. One bull in there was a good 6. I grew up horse riding in the area and hunted there several years back when my dad and I had Manti tags. The wilderness area is excellent for good bulls. If you focus on the bogs on the west side you will turn up a great bull (340 class) maybe even something a little bigger.
Good luck on your hunt.

when you say the bogs can you be more specific are you talking about the the canyons that run in between the white mountain and marys nipple , and are talking below the salina flats or above them . i have been watching the same bulls above skutumpah as well most of the summer as i have a cabin in accord lakes . thanks for the info

I also have a tag there, and I have lived there all summer, not too impressed to say the least. 340 bulls? I may have seen one or two all summer....Sure ain't what it used to be.

If you take the old road up from Skutumpah toward white mountain you will come to a fork where the old road went to the East (goes along the south side of white mountain) and a trail (also an old road) continues to the north and west. If you take the trail to the west side of white mountain you will come into a large bowl (38 59 04.71 N, 111 29 52.88 W), continue on the main trail through that bowl, through several smaller bowls the trail will come around to the west side of white mountain ending up in some thick pine trees. In those trees are several bogs and springs (approx 38 59 47.78 N 111 31 10.27 W). I have seen some of the biggest bulls up there between those bogs and that first big bowl. My Parents have had a cabin on Plateu Road at Accord for a long time. The size of the bulls has definitely gone down all over the Manti, but I think the wilderness area is a good place to look for a nice bull. Yes, there are 340's in that area still, you just have to hunt for them. In past years, I don't see as many mature bulls up there during the summer months, but they come into those areas during the rut because that is where the cows like to spend time. Depending on the amount of water (this year has been better) you can find bulls and cows rutting on the Big Duncan and in Duncan Draw. Good luck to both of you.

Thanks elk I know exactly were you are talking about I have killed a few spikes in there on the archery elk hunt in the past , I did see a few bulls on Duncan mountain a few weeks ago , we have also had a cabin in accords lakes for about 25 years now so I'm very familiar with the area. Thanks again I think I'm going to go check the quitchumpah creek and see what's in there you going to be down there this weekend by chance

Rick, No I will not be down there this hunt, I am helping a friend on his hunt on San Juan so I will be there all week. Again, good luck to you.
