So are all you doomsday, chicken littles gonna come around and admit our elk herds are doing fine?
How many 400+ bulls have already been killed this year?
BTW there aren't ANY big bulls on the wasatch.....it's been shot out.

Don't know the answer to your question but just because a handful of 380+ bulls are shot doesn't mean that overall size of all bulls harvested is going up or even staying the same. Yes, with Utah's system there will always be some monster bulls shot each year.

To get an accurate reading though, you would have to get the score of every bull harvested, days afield, number of spotters per hunter, time spent hunting vs driving roads, success percentage, accurate number of elk in each unit and on and on. After you got a system to get all that info, you would then have to collect it over a number of years to determine a pattern...
In other words, not going to happen. It is all based on personnel opinion unless the elk herd crashes or climbs drastically to see an obvious change.

Let me guess, you drive a 1 ton with oak trees for smoke stacks, 12" lift kit and 40" tires to pull a single place lawn mower trailer?

I called that same bull in and put an arrow in him at twenty yards! He ran into the nearest trees and went quiet. When I went looking for him he turned into a unicorn and I got in Trouble by the Dwr for shooting a unicorn. Then I woke up

LOL Anaconda!

I was thinking the same... still a huge bull and congrats to the hunter I just want to see a pic in perspective.

LAST EDITED ON Sep-06-13 AT 02:08PM (MST)[p]I fully agree with you horsecreek. The elk herds and size of bulls in Utah are doing just fine. As far as the unit goes, I have not been told this, but from following his hunt on tines up, he was hunting the Boulder.
As for you guys saying he is setting way behind the bull in the photo, yes that may be the case, but you should also check out the photo of him packing the bull out!!! It is a huge bull.
Congrats to the hunter.

Word is that it grossed 396" and has a 5x6 mainframe. Sweet bull and a big congrats to Eric. You earned it man.

Horsecreek, I agree with you, plenty of good stinkys roaming the hills in Utah. Congrats on a stud of a bull Eric. You earned it for sure.

And about the Wasatch....its far from shot out :) My brother killed a very respectable bull tonight on the unit. I will let him post the pics

That kid is a stud!! Awesome Bull Holy SHIZZZZ NITT what a monster. I hope it is all on video. This guy motivates me to work a little harder everytime I watch his videos way to go. congrats Just let the haters hate.... I hope to see this bull sometime expo/antler fest/ were ever.. congrats

What a Giant. Congrats to Chesser and those tines up boys. Im pretty sure they have some history with this bull. With hard work and knowing the country, you can get it done. Every unit has big bulls on em. U gotta find em. Cant wait to hear the whole story.

It is a great bull, but why do guys feel like they have to sit so far away from the animal? The bull speaks for itself!

I think it takes away from the entire thing!

Awesome animal and congrats to Eric!

That bow looks like it's 6 feet axle to axle ;-)

FANTASTIC BULL! ... Congrats!

And yes, Utah will CONTINUE to produce great bulls.
Just not as many. and overall success rates will drop as-well.

The probllem is, elk hunting in Utah may NEVER be again as
it was 5 years ago....Simple fact, but the 'sky' isn't falling.

With spike hunting state wide, and late seasons on the Nebo
and Wasatch, quailty of LE elk hunting is NOT what it was ..
Increased numbers on cow permits a factor also .
Anyone not realizing this is a fool.

How could anyone expect to sustain what we had 5+ years ago. You can't kill all the top end bulls and expect to stay on top.
