Received an e-mail from "fatrooster" and he asked me to post these pictures of his friends buck that he got this past week up in the Rubies. Rooster said that he has video footage of this buck that he took back in Aug-Sept and he along with another friend never could close the distance on the buck during Archery & Muzzleloading season.
He will tell the story after I get these pictures posted here. Congrats to Bill and of course the "guide" fatrooster.

We found this buck in August after I had already taken my deer in Lamoille during the archery season. My brother-in-law had a nonresident archery tag and had traveled from Florida to hunt Nevada. This buck looked huge in velvet and we stalked him in his bed but he was gone when we got to his bed. We never saw him again until September when my friend Jason had a muzzleloader tag. This buck was 30 yards from where we had seen him the month before. The spot he was in offered NO easy stalking route due to the wind blew straight towards this buck from all directions. Jason decided to go for it and blew him out of his bed with a missed shot and the buck was gone for two weeks. Bill had a rifle tag and was ready to fill it on a small 4-point, 3-point, or even a forky if need be. We started a trip to retrieve my camp on top of the mountain which had been up there since late July. Hunting on our way to the top of the mountain we spotted 4 bucks the two best being 3-points. We almost went after them but decided that we would spend the night in my high camp and hunt that evening and the next morning. Still on our way to the camp we glassed the drainage that this buck lived in and found him sleeping in the edge of the manzinita field that he loved to feed in only this time the wind was not blowing directly at him. We snuck to within 217 yards and Bill shot at him in his bed missing him. The buck stood up looking downhill and Bill let him have it. The buck traveled about 20 yards and fell. Believe it or not we could not find that buck for an hour and a half. I had to get up on a rock outcropping to find him. We named this buck "The Big Kahuna" and had a great time hunting him through 3 different types of hunting seasons in the 2007 year. Bill is very happy with him and plans to put him on the wall. Congrats on a great buck Bill. fatrooster.
P.S. Thanks Killowatt for posting these pictures for me as you always do.

Hey Fatty, right on, man you got that place figured out. What a cool story to follow him through three months, three hunts, and finally lay hands on him, what gratification. I guess the only thing better is your freak'n trophy, DANG, my jaw still hurts from dropping. Good year for ya!

Thanks Everybody,
Yea Fatrooster is quite the sherpa! I have been wanting to go hunting with Drew for a while now. Something always comes up to where it never happens? I have never hunted like that before. I WAS mostly a road hunter. When I did hike I never glassed that much. I am planning on upgrading my optics for sure! I really had a great time. We watched that video the night before, I thought that wouldn't be to bad! I was a little desparate! My wife had gotten a buck last year, and I didn't. It was a long year as far as the deer hunt conversations went! She popped one on Saturday and the pressure was on! Drew taught me so much in just the short time we hunted. Thanks Again Everybody

Great Buck!

Nice front forks

Uh...why were you packing out the legs?
Glutton for punishment, or did you have a use for 'em?
Just wondering...anyway, great buck...way to close the deal!

By the way,
I live in UT.
There are a lot of UTARDS that live here.
I have also seen quite a few WYOMORONS, NEVADUHNS, COLORADORKS, ID-IOTS and AIRHEADZONANS in my travels.

ICHABOD, we were only a half mile from the atv so we didn't worry much about deboning the meat. Just quartered him up. Its amazing to me how hundreds of people will drive the same ole roads over and over and look at forkies when you can find good deer 500 yards to a mile from the roads. fatrooster.

Here is a picture of Drew before we packed it out. Drew has little legs but he is the best Sherpa around! That is a 250lb pack!

Kilowatt, that would be the East side looking down into Clover Valley.
I will be seeing you at the Star on Halloween night at 5:00pm. I've already juggled my shift around and I won't have to go to work until several hours later.
And your right about that Sherpa boy not being me, I don't think I could ever grow that much hair anytime during my whole life!!!

Skidplate, you called me Sherpa boy during the whole hunt. What in the hell is a Sherpa boy???? How about a definition.

fatrooster.

Thanks for the definition Brian. I also looked it up and found that they are packers and carry great loads on thier backs. One of the most famous Sherpas was the first man to reach the summit of Mount Everest along with the leader of the expedition. Another sherpa currently holds the record of climbing Everest in the shortest time of 8 hours. Pretty tough hombres.
Ok Skidplate, I guess I'll take that as a compliment, lol.
