Hi, drew a mule deer tag and buying a over counter bull tag for this unit. Never hunted this unit and guys i was to hunt with can't go so I'm on my own now. Thx for any help! 2nd season tag!

I assume you know it but the 37 deer tag is also good in units 18, 28, and 371. I hunt in 37 3rd season and like many other units, it's hard to find areas that aren't crawling with orange. We've hunted on the west side of Unit 18 for deer and didn't find quite as many hunters as there's a lot more area to access by roads. Also we thought there were more deer there but we also went in without any scouting and it certainly depends on snow conditions. Didn't shoot anything but did see a few more deer and it had a little easier areas to hunt. I've also hunted in 371 but didn't find as many deer and didn't have a lot of good access either. Many of the roads in 37 I used to go on are now closed by the USFS which has really concentrated much of the pressure. We did some "scouting" in 37 this summer off the road that is North of Green Mnt dam maybe 4 miles or so and to the West. Looked like good country and there were more spurs off the road but I'd guess that it would also have a lot of hunters but I'm just guessing. Good luck to you.

I would hate to see where you hunt in 37 if you say there are less hunters in 18... I was up there in 2nd season once and at ONE trailhead there was 8 wall tents, two horse trailers where they packed in their tent and multiple people hunting the day! Every pull off had at least one camp, most had multiple camps. It was a F'en mad house! Won't be back in that area again unless there is a huge die-off of animals and the hunters leave...

Let me guess, you drive a 1 ton with oak trees for smoke stacks, 12" lift kit and 40" tires to pull a single place lawn mower trailer?

It is hard to find many units that aren't "overcrowded" especially those that have good access roads. In 37 where I've hunted, at one of the trail heads there were probably 20 camps at least. The road gets extremely rough and mostly 4 wheelers and pickups use it which is why most people camp at the lower area, then shuttle in for the day. It is literally a circus and a traffic jam in the morning! I don't camp there but go through it sometimes but we usually try to avoid that area now. They've closed at least 2 other roads in the area thus the jam up at some camping spots.
