I have 2 buddies that are new to hunting and both drew Antlerless Tags for the Wasatch/Avintaquin Area Oct 5-17. I have checked maps of the area and was wondering if anyone had some advice on where to take these guys to get a good experience for their first Elk hunt?? I am thinking of taking them around the Gray Head Peak area. I'm not asking for any Honey Holes but any help would be greatly appreciated. Send a PM if you don't want to give information publicly.

Thanks

Brad

They actually put in and drew this area? This area always has left over tags cause it's hard as CRAP! Elk are in this area during the bow hunt but most of them move out or into the CWMU by the rifle hunts. You can still find some elk in there but it is dang hard! You can catch them coming back and fourth on the CWMU. And there are a couple of canyons where there is a chance they will be in if there's enough water. I would hunt the fringes of the unit. Try the most western side of the unit where it connects to Wasatch West. That's gonna be probably your best bet.
