Ethics... what would you do

So I took my wife up to the East Canyon WMA this morning for the last day of the deer hunt. After we hiked up into this bowl I spott a deers rump in the sage. So we put on a sneak to get close. Once we get to about 300 yards I start to notice something looks fishy. We keep moving and after gaining some elevation on it I notice it is dead. I can only see a body and rump. Curiosity got the best of me and I went to investigate. It was a little 2 point that had been gut shot. It was smelling pretty bad but when I moved it it was still a little bit flexable, not completely stiff. It has been cool at night, but plenty warm durring the day and it looked a little bloated. I moved it off the trail and left it there.
So what would you have done? Take the chance that it was still ok or just leave it for the coyote's?

Second question, the previous evening we were coming hoome from hunting and I hit a spike with the truck. I was slowing but still hit it at about 20-25 mph. It looked like it had a broken back and rear leg. One of the guys that stopped asked if I was going to tag it. I didn't I just finished it and drug it off the road. What do you think, good choice or bad choice?

I would have left the first for the buzzards and would not have tagged the spike, although I might have snuk it home. The MM ethics police are about to come unglued but that's just the way it is.

JB, I totally agree with your way of thinking. I probably don't have the nads to do it though. Big brother is watching........

I would have done the same thing with the first deer. It is to bad that either the hunter could not find the deer or that someone is just out shooting whatever they want. The second deer depending on the condition is a judgement call. You could go either way but neither is wrong.

Good call on the first deer.
I would have done the same as you on the second; except maybe would have put a call in to the DWR, see if they wanted to save the meat for charity donations. If so, you could have gutted the deer waiting for the warden.
Either way, no need to tag either deer.

By the way,
I live in UT.
There are a lot of UTARDS that live here.
I have also seen quite a few WYOMORONS, NEVADUHNS, COLORADORKS, ID-IOTS and AIRHEADZONANS in my travels.

good decision and can't disagree with you. I however probably would have gutted both and took both to the game warden or called them to come get them. They would take the meat to the food shelf or may even do the following situation.
A friend of mine found a wounded 3x2 bull in a colorado 4 point or better zone. He finished it off quartered it, hung it in a tree and then contacted the game warden, they then came to check it out then wrote him a free pass to take it home without having to tag it.

I KNOW ITS A BAD DEAL!!!

BUT IF YOU GUT AN ANIMAL HERE IN TARDVILLE YOU FIND YOU MIGHT BE IN A BIND!!!

I DON'T AGREE WITH SOME OF THE LAWS WE HAVE BECAUSE I HATE SEEING MEAT WASTED!!!

BUT IT AIN'T WORTH GETTING IN A JAM!!!

WE HAVE SOME OF THE MOST UN-ETHICAL JACK-ASSES AROUND!!!
