When does the mule deer rut generally start in the northern section of Utah and how long does it usually last?

It starts when the first doe comes into estrus and lasts until the last doe has been successfully bred.

Northern unit, yesterday - I had two small bucks walk right by me (about 50ft) while I was field dressing a buck, they had no idea we were there, but then it is hard to recognize your surroundings when you have your snout shoved up a doe's ass........Never seen it start this early, seems like it is a week early. Last until...well that is up to the does...

Where I was hunting at this weekend they've gotten into pre-rut, early rut. The bucks are still hanging together for the most part, but there were some sparring with does around.

Well im not from up north but down here in southern utah i normally seen peak rut about 14-28 of november! But the weather and does can change that! Im sure with the weather they may start a little earlier! But then again i dont have a roman nose if you know what i mean!
