It did look like he had a extra tine or two. He went pretty far back towards his ass. Sorry I don't know how long each tine was and how long his nose hairs came out of his nose. I watched these elk come out right before dark two nights in a row. The night I waited for them they cut under me and passed. He bugled and I knew he was out in the open. I came out of the bottom of the trees seen him and set up for the shot. I think if you was in my shoes and seen a dead elk in the water he was headed to when you hit him. It might mess with your head. This hasn't been easy on me. I had 3 other guys that watched it go down. All of them saying solid 350 plus. My buddy and I both thought he had extras. I have a blurry pic of him if anyone can try and clean it up. He was well in my comfort range.

I don't want to feed the fire on this issue, but lets not jump on his back just because he isn't 100% sure of what the bull was that he shot.

I had no clear idea with the bull I took this year with what he was. I first saw my bull walking through the trees at 300 yards. With the glimpses I knew he was a descent 6 point and I was going to take him if I had the chance but that was it. When he walked into the clearing, now at 217 yards, I was so focused on the shot that had he ran off I would not be able to describe him.

It's unfortunate that he wasn't able to recover the animal and from the sound of it, he is as sick about it as anyone else would be in the same position. Good luck in the search.

On another note, that's a nice looking bull. I didn't see where it talked about any possible cause of death?
 
I was thinking that bull is alive and well and was just scanning the bottom of that lake for some of that spanish gold hidden in them thar hills.

I'm pretty sure it's not my bull. The I shot had a darker neck. I'm pretty sure he also had a extra or two. Just messed with my head a lil cause he was going to water when I hit him. Thanks for the people that care. Wouldn't wish this on anyone. This is the first animal I lost. Sucks it had to be my dream bull.

Hang in there Tye. I don't think that I fully appreciated exactly what my bull looked like until I walked up to him dead on the ground -- and I shot him at 20 yards. The adrenaline and excitement of the moment certainly can get to you. Ignore the rebel rousers.

Where did you hit the bull??? You said you saw the hit. You blame it on the SST-ML. Call the fish and game see if you can get the slug back see if it matches.
 
I switched to the t-ez Barnes bullets. A few people said the hornady sst bullets didn't have enough knock down power. If someone can clean up the pic at all that would be great. This pic was taken by a cool guy that tried to help me find my Bull the next morning. He was just up camping and fishing. He had been watching these elk. They along with my buddy was giving me high fives, hugging me saying he would be just inside the tree line dead. I didn't want to get my hopes up til I had my hands on him. Thanks for all the kind words and offers to help me find him. For those that are taking jabs at me I hope someday I can be PERFECT like you.
 
If I were in your shoes I would contact the DWR and see if they recovered a slug or two from that elk in the water. Looking at your photo the front end of the animal looks like it might be similiar. Until you can produce a better picture of the elk you think you shot I would say there is a 50/50 chance these are the same.

Granted I was not there, but man alive it would be worth the call to see if there is a match on the slugs.
 
I lost the biggest archery buck I ever shot until the meat was ruined 4 days later. Never figured out how I missed him he only went 400 yards and went down I had good blood and followed it to within feet of the tall grass he was in. I heard the yotes on him after looking for him for 2 days. That deer still bothers me 4 years later that he went to waste. I guess the fact that I probably walked within feet of him for days and couldn't see him in the grass. It happens in hunting you make the best shot you can and hope you don't have bad luck or circumstances.
 
So I'm pretty sure this IS the bull I hit. Looking at the pic I have and looking at this bull. I found out it WAS found in the SAME bay that he went down to water when I shot him. Just makes me FREAKING MORE SICK TO MY STOMACH. Does anyone know where this bull ended up? I talked to the fish and game and they didn't say anything about this bull. If they gave him to the guy that found him I would be willing to pay him some good money for him. This was my first and probably last chance at a big bull. did

I found out the bull was found at the same place I shot my bull. I wish someone could clean up the pic of the bull I hit to rule this bull out 100% or know if this dead one is him. Did the fish and game take him? When I talked to them they said no one has called any dead bulls in.
 
He came out to water right before dark. It did look like he had possible extras my buddy is still doubting this is him. My buddy watched the whole thing in his binoculars. I didn't have all day to look him over. The bull I shot looked bigger then the bull in the water. Just weird how this bull is in the same place. Is it possible to clean up that pic or not? Anyone have any ideas on how to clean it up?
 
There isn't a way to clean up the blurry picture. You can sometimes add some extra contrast and get a general idea of the overall size, but to be able to actually see extras and things like that, no way.

IMO, the only time to make a fuss is if you looked the whole season for the bull and didn't shoot another one!

I got a little disturbed with all the "help me" MM crap.


Here's what I think I know;
350 and I text a bunch before, during and after the hunt.

Seems like a really nice guy who just got caught up in the ph'king inches game, lost an animal and has never mentally recovered from it.

There are noteworthy events, during the hunt, that were shared with me that were not shared on MM.

I don't think that 350 was trying to do anything illegal and he was going through correct channels (disregard MM BS) to get something accomplished IMO. Why? I don't know.

I don't know what he was trying to accomplish since I thought he had accomplished everything already during the actual hunt.

Everything he has said was accurate, to my knowledge. Information was omitted on MM, when he told his story, and I was perplexed by the omission. Critical details were left out of the story and for that I was frustrated.

Now he can tell his story any time he wants.
He and I have been texting so he's manned-up with me all along.

I understand your desire to get to the bottomed what happened to the first bull you shot... Who wouldn't? But if you did end up shooting another bull then just be honest about it. Obviously if you did end up taking another bull home you no longer have any claim to another bull whether you shot it or not....anyway take it easy and relax....the only reason folks are assuming, is because you haven't said anything to prove otherwise.

So tye, I know where this bull was located, I know who has the horns, and what you are saying isn't lining up with what I know. This bull was not found on the south side of the lake. When I say that I mean it wasn't located in the meadows, broad hollow or anywhere near poison ridge. I assume you were hunting one of those areas when you say south of 'the lake'. Also, this bull was probably a 320-330 class bull and that is assuming it had a decent spread credit, it is not a giant bull and the pic makes it look much bigger.

"bong toker" is priceless!!!! As far as Tyf350 id definitely keep my mouth shut if he was guilty of killing more than one bull. It's too bad he lost a bull and it DOES happen to the best of us however we all know the states view on this and need to abide by the law. I hunted with a close family member that after losing a wounded bull they cut their tag and ended the hunt.

My thoughts exactly! Imagine if everone ran around taking "insurance" bulls. Screw the guy next year that might have a tag! Im gonna take a couple and take the pick of the litter! Whether or not you ment for this to happen... fact is you took 2 bulls with one tag! Shoundnt have ever shot the second bull! Especially if you planned on tryin to recover the first one. The only way I could see justifying shooting bull number 2 is if you knew with out a doubt bull number will live on. For example... my buddy shot a bull with a bow and hit him square in the shoulder blade. We searched for the bull for a couple days snd never found anything. About a week later we heard the bull was still alive. We went back up and sure as sh!t he was back with cows and chasing rag horns around. I could see someone shooting another bull but even that you should try and pursue the same bull you wounded.

Why you would post something like this on a public forum is beyond me. Obviously this was between you and Tye, and not everyone else on Monster Muleys. Obviously Tye posted he lost his bull on here, but IMHO I feel like this got much worse than what it really needed to be.

I have heard people say that they have seen people shoot at animals and never go look for blood. I looked for the bull I shot at for 3 freaking days/w help.
 
Berryblaster, if that bull wasn't found on the south side then it's not the bull I shot at. The bull I shot at was a solid 350 bull. I also had a cow tag. I cut it up and put it in the trash.

I should have text him back and asked what the hell he was doing trying to "get" a dead bull. He text and said I should have text him before I posted in a knee-jerk type reaction to something I preceived as disrespecful to the animal he took home.

It isn't a fight between Tye and me. I don't even know him and for all I know he's been shizing me all along. Maybe he really never had a tag at all.

I think it got much worse because Tye forgot the whole story and there were MM friends who were willing to help him find "his" bull.

Well, a question or two for you now. When did "his" bull cease being "his" bull? When did just some of the story become the whole truth?

I should have just text him and told him to cool all the "lost ""MY"" bull" stuff. In that, you're totally correct. Thanks for the reality check.

I don't post on here much, but that last post struck me wrong. Tye, you are saying you killed two bulls so you cut up your cow tag? IMO you should have cut up your bull tag after what you claimed as knowing you hit that 350+ bull good. I see the original Lost wasatch bull thread is gone, so I cannot quote the original story. It looks very fishy at this point.
On another note, this seems to be what is wrong with our limited entry system right now. Just because people have to wait 5,10, 15+ years for a tag they feel entitled to take an animal home. Therefore too many people take unethical shots, shoot two animals etc. Because Nobody wants to go home empty handed. It is still hunting after all. I believe the wounding of animals (with all weapons) is only going to get worse the higher the point pools get.
 
I never said I killed two bulls. My post was sarcastic saying a good handful on here are calling me out saying I'm guilty.

Sorry Slam, but I must interject at this moment. I remember a post a couple years back that was way worse than this. Multiple people called wasatchwhacker out about a bull on the wasatch and you and your crony ELKASS (at that time bobcatbess) stuck up for him. So save the theatrics.

What more do you need to know? The dude minimizes more than a room full of convicts. Before the story was it was a "solid hit" and "three people saw it go down" (the first bull, that is). Now it's, "the bull I shot at."

The fact of the matter is, he wounded a bull that was never recovered, killed a second bull, and then asked for help finding the first bull. If you or anyone else doesn't see a moral or ethical (let alone a legal) problem with that, then you need to do some serious soul searching.

And as far as tearing up a cow tag, BFD, and what does that have to do with anything?!
 
It amazes me how some of the moderators on here can be so hypocritical. Why don't you just nuke it if you don't like it slamdunk? You don't have to follow the forum rules when your a mod..

Wow, I must be getting old, I don't even recall a member named wasatchwhacker, nor do I recall ever condoning someone ANYONE in taking a second animal simply because they lost the first one.
But hey what the hell......go ahead, do what you feel is right and say what you think is right to say!

My point to my last post was this thread and it's content are getting old......the roller coaster story is making me want to vomit.

I was not saying you and your crony condoned him taking a seconf animal. Wasatchwhacker was accused of poaching an animal on MM and you and ELKASS condemned us that accused him of poaching.

I do however agree that this rollercoaster story is getting old I even offered to help him look for his bull. Not sure of the true story any more I am not sure I could condone the behaviour that has been shown by him or zeke.

I do not recall the said poaching incident but lord knows I have jumped in on plenty of those threads myself.
In fact.....I am proud to report that I caught two poachers four weeks ago on a lease that I guide on......it was fun confiscating all their property, including an ATV :)

Thanks to Illegal Bastards & the USFS not enforcing Rules you can Zing in to them Places on Wheelers now & not see a Damn thing!
But by GAWD it don't take long for them U-Tards to get there with all the Unethical BS and the New Technology!
 
Anyone who blames Zeke for any of this needs to be kicked in the junk! All he did was call a spade a spade, which I'm thankful for. Lying by omission is still lying and this is far beyond that. Like I said, I'm not so sure it's not criminal.

What crime did I commit? There is no facts to your slamming guilty at me. Calling me a criminal etc. That's some pretty big accusations. Anyone that offered help I told them I had to talk to the fish and game first. I never took any offers for help. This hole thing is blown up way off course. Also when I said "3 people watched it go do" I was talking about shooting at the bull. Not watching the bull go down. This sucks I hope no one ever had to go through this let alone having a mob attack you.

In Utah, by law, you're only allowed to harvest ONE bull. You harvested a bull and were scheming a way to "harvest" a second. Is that legal or not?!

What you don't seem to grasp is, most guys worth their salt would've notched their tag if they wounded a bull and would've spent the remainder of their time looking for it, not go on to kill a second bull and THEN come on here with a poor pity me "I lost my dream bull" story and let guys offer to help locate the first one, only knowing half the story. Any post about losing the first bull should've been made long before you killed the second and tells a lot about your character.

Zeke speaking up about what he knew about the "untold story" tells me he has a conscience and tells me a lot about his character.

Too bad the original thread was nuked so people could see for themselves how you've made a complete 180 degree turn from a "good hit" and "three people watched it go down", to now "three people watched you shoot AT the bull", almost as if you're trying to make it sound like you may not have even hit the first one. Before you were positive it was a solid hit. Stupid should hurt!
