LAST EDITED ON Oct-13-13 AT 10:12PM (MST)[p]My twenty year old daughter made a awesome shot on a cow elk the first Monday of the elk hunt. The herd kept move above us in and out of the quakes . We set up on them three different times. Until the bull moved up on the cows and stopped them in the middle of the last clearing. The cows and calfs where all in the way. No clear shot. Then the lead cow walked out broad side and stood there long enough for us to get set up. I ranged it and made the adjustments on the turret . Her uncle had time to set up the spotting scope to call the shot. I ranged her at 780 yards. With the angle we set the turret at 750 . We told her ok when you ready. One shot one kill. She a made a beautiful shot and double lunged her. She walk less then twenty yards and went down.

She was shooting my 300 Tejas loaded w/Barnes 168 ttsx off of shooting sticks.

I don't know if that was Ethical!:D

RAZZIN Ya BIGJOHN!

I Don't want your Daughter shootin at me!

Nice Job!

I used to know of places worth Hiking in to for Elk & Deer!
Thanks to Illegal Bastards & the USFS not enforcing Rules you can Zing in to them Places on Wheelers now & not see a Damn thing!
But by GAWD it don't take long for them U-Tards to get there with all the Unethical BS and the New Technology!

Ya Bessy , I was waiting for that. But I saw the smile face. ;-) She has been shooting the gun since she was 16 and does well with it. I have set up a 270 for her with a BDC scope. When the boys go out shooten steel . She loves to ring the metal. The elk where at 990 yards at first and as they moved south they kept getting closer to us. I guess 780 yards may not be considered close for some? But when the lead cow moved out broadside and stood there for a few minutes. It all came together. She made a perfect broadside shot. About a two inch entrance hole on the inside ribs and a 3 inch hole on the exit side of the ribs.

Here is a picture of the exit. To clarify that it didn't do a lot of damage.

That's freaking awesome! I've been trying to get my pops on a cow on the Wasatch the past week. He's had chances but keeps making small mistakes. He's not much of a hunter, so it's been fun getting him to come out. Congrats again to her! Those are gonna be some tasty steaks!

Congrats to your daughter on getting her elk and on a heckuva shot. You don't really realize how far distances like that are until you range em with a rangefinder that will read that far. Pretty impressive!
