That is crazy, a 1 in a million bull :)
How long did you watch him before you convinced yourself he was a spike?

Let me guess, you drive a 1 ton with oak trees for smoke stacks, 12" lift kit and 40" tires to pull a single place lawn mower trailer?

Honestly everything happened pretty quickly, I had moved in on a herd of 15 or so Elk that had 2 spikes with them. As I closed the distance I ended up getting a little careless and made too much noise that got them stirred up and moving. I actually thought I blown my chance but as a last resort I let out a Cow call that stopped this guy in his tracks. He stood there broadside looking at me for a few seconds while I glassed him. I was in disbelief not to see any branch above his ears. At that point I knew he was legal. I didn't even see the fronts until I approached him. What a sweet surprise after it was over. Really cool bull for sure. Great hunt!

>Looks like that spike has eye
>guards? Does that still qualify
>as a spike?

in UT it does. No branch above the ears qualifies as a spike.
In CO it would not qualify as a spike. I don't think in MT either. Don't know about rest of states.

Thats a once in a lifetime spike (Never thought I would say that)... Do you have some close ups??? or different angles? (Again, never thought I would ask that about a spike)... Pretty neat

Ive seen a few like that in Idaho on some spike hunts but their not legal here. Definitely unique for spike elk. Congrats.

I'll say That's a sweet Bull! Muzzleloader or a rifle bull posted late?

For a people who are free, and who mean to remain so, a well-organized and armed militia is their best security.

Shot this one in Colorado a couple years ago. Was a little nervous when I walked up to him and seen that big spike sticken up out of the grass. Was sure I saw points before I shot.

Dont want to over take the OP's post, but I shot one like that last year in Idaho on a Spike only hunt. We call it the Devil Spike

Very unique. Never saw one like it.

My hunting spot is so secret, not even the elk have found it yet.
