Boy, I'd sure like to find a hunt'n partner to hunt in the Trinity Alps (CA)

My nephew and I spent about four and 1/2 days trying to find a shootable mulie about 7 miles south of Santa Rosa but the FULL MOON really skewered us. Be sure and check the moon phase before you pay your hard earned dollars for your hunt.

Since when did the Mule Deer invade the Trinity Alps??? and you were 7 miles south of Santa Rosa... I dont think the moon is the only thing that "skewered" you if you were hunting up there in Tinker Bell country where the cars have rainbow decals...

LAST EDITED ON Nov-03-07 AT 07:04AM (MST)[p]That business about the Trinity Alps was supposed to be my signature line!! BTW, I'm new to this forum and I'd like to change my user name, can anybody please show me the way?

I was just giving you a bad time.. If you go to the start page and click on user you can edit your information. I am not sure if youcan change you user name or if you just have to start over..

OK, thanks, I'll give that a try. BTW I own a Model 70 30-06 and should've taken it to NM instead of the 15" Encore 25-06 due to the 200 yrd. shot that I'd've had to take had a shootable deer shown up.

You should have known better than to trust a hunt with a nephew with the MM tag "Luckless"... BTW, I finished up my cabin yesterday and today. It'll be readt for my hunt starting Saturday. I've seen over 80 does and 25 cow elk (with a massive 6x6 herd bull) in the past two days...

I collect pre64 model 70's and have 4 guns still in the original
boxes and two others, the .270 I hunt with my dad gave me when I was 12 a (I'm 56 now) and I have his .264 Mag that he bought new 1959. I have other rifles but I always end up hunting with my old reliable .270.

Needless to say, young nephew of mine, I'm jealous as hell!! BTW, I think I screwed up. I threw that hunting license away and later remembered that I was supposed to fill something out and mail it into the NM Dept. of Fish and Game (or whatever it is!).

My dad also gave me his model 70 270 he bought 1946 or 47. He killed many deer with the old rifle. Still shoots great.

The Trinity Alps get alot of pressure on opening weekend. Getting into the back country is alot better but not a sure thing for having a place to yourself. There are other places further north that can be found with some effort that don't get hammered. Good luck.
