I haven't been on here for quite a while, but figured I had better post a picture of my son's bull this year. If you know our family, you know we have done very well on the Fishlake. My son finally drew a tag, and then the end of May had to go in for back surgery, and then 2 days after the first surgery, they had to go back in and fuse it due to all the damage. He wasn't even able to walk until the first week in July. Anyway, he thought about turning the tag back, but if you know Jace, you know he is an elk hunting/guiding fool. He wasn't able to hit it like he wanted, but still took this great bull. We heard him down in the bottom of a canyon and Jace started working him. It took a while but he called him right up to the trail we had drove the SXS in on. If any of you watch Adam Eakle on Outdoors, you may have seen he won the snapshot of the week.
Enjoy...

It wasn't the bull he was hoping for, but he knew he had limitations and made the best of it all. I am happy he made it happen, but would sure have liked to see what he would have taken if he had been healthy!! Congrats Jace!

Damn nice ar----

Hope all is well with ya??

Us old school guys from back in the day kinda worry sometimes about an original M&M buddy when we do not see nor hear from them for a while----

Hey Robb, it has been the worst, craziest year ever. I need to get back and catch up with everything.
Hopefully this year has a positive turn, but you never know... Just found out I am going to have to have my knee replaced again....seems it never ends...

Nice Job Guys!

JUDAS Rick!

You tell that Dr. you wanna work on Him?:D

Hope all goes Well!

Heck of a nice bull. Looks even better in person!

You guys have what, near 1,500 inches of elk bone off of that mountain?

Congrats again to you guys and good luck with the knee.

Great bull! I'd be thrilled to find one like that. Congrats to your son.

Keep your chin up Arick! I had my left knee replaced for the second time a few years back and it works way better now than the first go around.
I'm hiking like a teenager and still able to collect Social Security!
Best of luck friend. Get it done soon so you can be on the mountain this fall!

Horn, it had better work better this time. I could barely get around last year, and was so glad Jace called the bull right up to us so I could be a part of it all. I really worried about not being able to get to the elk to help him after all he has done for us and everyone else with their bulls. Probably what ruined his back was packing out all the elk when he was guiding. He isn't that big of a kid but always done more than his share. That is what shot my back also was doing too much.
Good to see you are still around Beas, but then we all know you will be the last one standing here! Haha...

Nice bull rick !!! But everyone knows there are no elk on Fish Lake. :) I don't know where you guys keep finding those things. ?

Thought I might be underestimating. Guess I'm a true MMer :)

Doubt many families could say they've had that much success on one unit.

>And Gledeasy, it's just over 1725
>inches of bone!!!
>Never looked at it that
>way...

Another great bull for the AR family! You guys get it done every year, bad wheels and all. It's a good thing for the rest of us that you're all buggered up Boss. There wouldn't be much left for anybody else if you guys every get a full set of legs again.

Congrat Rick.

Was Barbi being bashful this year or was she off patterning next years bull while y'all were celebrating this one?

DC

Lumpy, thanks....With everything going on this year, she never even crossed my mind this year. I will have to dust her off and see if she can keep up next year. Supposed to have a new wheel for next year, so look out! Would be fun to see her out and about again.

LAST EDITED ON Jan-15-14 AT 11:04PM (MST)[p]For any of you wondering what is up with Barbie, here is a little taste of what we are talking about.
Ktc, Saddlesore, and Warbirdum brought her back from Colorado, and started the Craze and she went on a few fun hunts. After my hunt and the "mess", we decided to retire her for a while... Anyway, I will put the link in a new post.

Yep, we used to have a lot of fun a few years back...

That is a beautiful bull, congratulations to your son! It's been about 10 years since I last hunted Fishlake NF for deer. I'd love to make it back out there one of these years.

AR,
Congrats to Jace. Nothing like chasing bulls on Fishlake, unless it's having FL bulls chasing you! It was a pretty tough year down there, rut and weather were a little off from the archery all the way thru the late. That's a great bull for a great crew!!!

LAST EDITED ON Jan-17-14 AT 03:48PM (MST)[p]Well ElkManDan...you asked for it.....and I hope the rest of you don't mind seeing them again...

And my son's 357 bull from this year...with only a 30" inside spread credit..

Needless to say, the women have all the braggin' rights in our family.....

All these are Fishlake bulls. Still got one son who should be getting close to getting his tag....

What a great bull! Congratulations to your son.
Great memories you all have created on the Fish Lake.
Thanks for sharing this.

Wonder where the heck you have been. Congrats to your son on a great bull. Thanks for sharing all the pics again. Now go tie up one of them turkeys for me.

Great bulls for each of you! Saw that on Eakles show. Very happy for your son. Even healing up and somewhat broken down you guys have always gotten it done! Congrats and good luck on your knee surgery. Wish you the best and a speedy recovery!

Thanks Chad. I am hoping I will be back on the mountain strong after the surgery. It has been a good run and I hope it isn't done...

Dangit Rick, I've been trying for years to convince folks that there are NO ELK on Fishlake!!

I'm off my waiting period, btw. Guess where I hope to get lucky?!

Pred

Rick,
That's what's called "gettin' it done"!
I agree with the poster who said, few families can say they've had that kind of success in one unit.
I say, few families can say they've had that kind of success on elk, period.
Congratulations to you and your family and to your son for his great addition to the family legacy!
