I booked a 3 rd season trespass hunt along west mamm creek a few miles south of town, private land bordering landlocked forest service or BLM land, anybody have any advice or insight about that area? Thank's.

That should be a good area with good numbers of elk. If you get some weather and pressure from the easy to reach public, you should do well. How big is the private

Our group hunts east of there in a similar situation on Garfield creek and we always do well with elk

I would be cautious. I live and hunt around here and really do not know of any truly land locked chunks of BLM or Forrest Service. Also 140 acres is nothing in the big picture. Also land locked BLM does not mean that there is not any oil and gas on it or that every other small owner does not do the exact same thing. Or that one of the other pretties is not letting 200 guys pay trespass fees etc.

Do you know the property owners name? The unit itself is hunted hard both on private and public grounds. It is easy access for a lot of people. It does have some great animals, but. It gets hit hard. For 3rd season hope for snow. Also hope that the property is land locked and the other property owners are not all doing the same by pimping out this locked land. It has been awhile since I hunted that area but I never remember looking at a map and thinking that there was public ground I could not access.

If I had more specifics the I could go I to greater deal. Also the nice part about a trespass fee is you can still be mobile and hunt over places if you area is not working out so well. Public places that is....

I hope this wasnt a lease off of some guys from Louisiana!!!! Got screwed by them big time a few years back. They had small 100-200 acre tracts for lease that supposedly butted up against BLM. Well after our first morning hike to the top there was a fifth wheel camper parked at the top!

Been there done that with the getting screwed part, this guy is a 3 rd generation Colorado native, I'm going to look the land over in June
