Here are my 2007 Nebraska Muley Pics. This is my first year to hunt since 2002 because of my commitments in the Marine Corps and I made the best of it. The first deer was taken second day of the season out in the flat lands and sage brush with my father in law as the "guide" He is a tall 3x4 and I got him about 200 yards. I had to belly crawl through the sage brush and the cactus to get to a shooting position. He was running with about 10 does and all the does were locked on me and I was worried about them spooking out of the country. I am still pulling cactus out of my knees and elbows but it was worth it for sure.

Since I had all this time off(terminal leave) from the military, I decided I will probably not ever have this much time to hunt for a "big one" to put on the wall. So I bought another tag to try and go for a good deer. I told my father in law when I shot my first deer that "man I'd sure like to find a buck with some cheaters", and low and behold this guy was laying amongst a bunch of does yesterday around noon. I saw the cheater in my spotting scope and I about had a heart attack! It was a good thing that he was laying down and gave me a chance to control my breathing before he stood up. I was able to get a rest on a big rock and make about a 300 yard shot and down he went. I could not be happier. He is a heavy bladed 4x5 and is about 26 7/8 inches wide. What a great season I will soon not forget.

Congrats on the deer and the time off!! And...thanks for representing us in the military. If it wasn't for guys like you, we may not be hunting at all.
