Boulder Mountain Bulls

Hunted the Wasatch all my life, took a chance to put in for a 'better' area this year and drew the Boulder Mountain area. I'm almost 40 years old now and this will be my first, and most likely last, bull elk hunt. Feeling very grateful and fortunate to have the opportunity.

Camped there when I was a kid, but have not been back for quite some time...any help would be appreciated as we are trying to plan summer scouting trips.

Get some salt out and your cameras. Boulder doesn't offer much in the way of glassing. Thick as hell and water everywhere.

Might have been better off stayin' on the home turf where you know the country a little better. I personally think the Wasatch is still a pretty good hunt. I drew the muzzy tag last year and had a blast. My boy drew the early rifle tag this year and I can't wait for September to get here.
Good luck on the Boulder. Do the research and put in the scouting time and it should work out. Hope it turns out good for you.

Rifle, September hunt.

I appreciate the recommendation to stay closer to home and maybe I'll end up regretting the decision to go South, but the chance for a great bull is too much to pass up.

We hunted elk last year on the Wasatch with my father, who harvested a nice 340" bull. Have a great area with many, many bulls and would be willing to swap information or just help another hunter out.

If the photos plastered in the gas station in Torrey are accurate, you're in for a great hunt I'd say...
