Returned from Canada after a two week muley/whitetail hunt with Alberta River Valley Lodge.

I took this muley on Thanksgiving morning after finding him tending a doe. He has a 180" frame and a 10 1/2 dropper. While I knew there was some other toads around, I could not pass him up.

I then got super frustrated chasing whiteys in the rut. I finally connected on this "5x5", 154" typical a week later. It got chilly the second week with a high a couple of days around -5F.

Taking a trophy muley was a 21 year guest that finally happened.

LAST EDITED ON Dec-05-07 AT 02:09PM (MST)[p]Ed,

Congrats to you man on filling your quest for that "big one". How did your daughter do on that hunt over out of Ely?

Brian,

After opening morning, with the previously scouted bucks elsewhere, a huge storm hit, dumping wet snow for 24 hours. We packed up our spike camp, went out in 10' visability the next morning and struck out in the low country with the other 100 hunters who had the same idea. We returned to McGill to find five nice shooters in an alfalfa field on private property, LOL!

Since she had a full load in her first semester of college, she could not find a window to return. Maybe next year...

Congradulations Uncle Ed, Savor the moments and fix that broken toe, call Matter- Regards Larry

Ed,
Was this the people across from you a few years ago down in San Mateo at the show you told me about? Again, congrats to you on the hunt.

Brian

Yep, Lee McNary of Alberta River Valley Lodge: http://www.rivervalleylodge.com/

Randy, a regular for the last five years and already booked for the next five years took a monster non-typical that went 217. The Hoyt bow crew stuck a 226 non-typical earlier in the season. While in camp Jim from LA took a awesome 192 muley and 188 whitey.

Lee and his brother Eric along with other sub-guide Phil, bust thier butts to make every hunter happy. They also have a great cook, and nice lodge full of mounts. They do a heck of waterfowl hunt earlier as well.

Some pics of the lodge;
