San Juan

LAST EDITED ON Sep-01-14 AT 00:29AM (MST)[p]I know this isn't the bear forum but I thought I would see if anybody that has been down on the San Juan this year hunting elk has any bear info? I'm just curious what people are seeing on the San Juan this year for bear? I drew the spot and stalk tag for this fall and it will be my first spot and stalk bear hunt. Have been on several bear hunts using dogs and Just wanted to try something different. We plan on going down middle of September for a weekend or two looking around and learning the country. I have spent a little time working on the mountain but never hunted it. If anybody has been seeing any bears this year or has any spots or ideas they think I should check out I would appreciate it or you can just pm me and that would work to. I'm really excited to have this tag but more excited just to go down and spend a week or two hunting with my dad and brothers and have a great time doing what we love to do. We have seen a lot of bears down there... Way more than the past couple years. Over by shay ridge and off the back side we saw the most, also saw a couple over on the Abajo side along the wagon wheel trail! Should be a fun hunt they are everywhere.

I am down here chasing elk with a friend right now and will be here all week. We usually see quite a few bears while hunting. I will keep you posted on where we see them.
