Hi everyone my buddy drew a early rifle boulder tag this year and we have been down scouting a few times most recent over the Labor Day weekend and still haven't turned up any elk lots of fresh tracks and a few wallos we have found but no elk. He owns some property between antimony and pine lake and that's were we have spent our time. Are we looking in the right spot ? Are they nocturnal ? We are just struggling and hoping we can follow some bugles in a week any info or suggestions would help a ton were not looking for a giant just a decent bull thanks and happy hunting

You should have no problem finding elk there when they get vocal.
They do love the thick stuff on that mountain.
Go for a good hike early and you will find one.

It's a think unit, plain and simple. Once the bulls start talking, I don't think you'll have any trouble locating a good bull or two. The fact that you're into a lot of fresh sign is a good thing. Keep us updated and good luck on a great tag. :)

For people not familiar with this unit, hunting is not as easy as some think. Thick, Nasty, steep, holes. Id look for those land marks. Or you could get lucky. The elk are around Antimony. Hunt hard and it could pay off.
