Just to be clear, I was sincere in my 'congrats' part of my post.

I will be hunting the NM Gila Wilderness starting on the 19th and will be happy to harvest something like this person did. Big bulls are there. Question is, can I seal the deal?

Congrats again!

Very nice bull, Congrats to your sister. What kind of rifle does she shoot.

Sneeky, that is funny I dont care who you are, thats funny....I thought the same thing and when I read that post I lost some of the drink I had to the screen...

LAST EDITED ON Sep-11-14 AT 10:43AM (MST)[p]Congrats on the bull, i might need to borrow that tape though haha

There are lots of ways to get creative with the tape and I've used them all. No blood, no foul.
That's a beautiful, mature, trophy bull. Yer sis dun good!
Zeke

I hope that 900 yard thing was also a typo, and that the real shot was 90 or 190, or perhaps 290 yards! I rarely play ethics police on this forum, but if indeed she was shooting 900 yards, WTH???

Anyway, congratulations on a very nice bull! (even if it really, really scored just 330 :) :) )

Agreed. Very few people have any business shooting 900 hundred yards at animals. No need to inflate scores either, posting scores is overrated anyways. Great bull though bigger than anything I've ever shot. Congrats

Just curious what's wrong with a 900 yard shot? If she has the gun and knows how to use it why not. Every year I see guy that go hunting and have no idea if there gun is even on. Or bought the ammo that was on sale and are different that the last years.
Do you shot a long range gun or are you that guy that shots a tree from camp the night before the hunt just to make sure she's where I left it.

LAST EDITED ON Sep-23-14 AT 12:49PM (MST)[p]Everyone should try to try to be an ethical hunter. Practice and know your limits and equipment limits.
Maybe the hunter could hit the vitals from 900 yards, 80% of the time. Maybe she has practiced a ton. Could the hunter hit the vitals at 300 yards 100% of the time? I know some would have a hard time at 200 yards. Then we have running shots?

Still , elevation, wind, how good the rest and shot angle, energy, bullet quality, etc are factors. I believe less than 1% of hunts should be taking shots over 500 yards. Just my opinion. Congrats to the hunter and a nice bull. Glad things worked out.

That is a good bull and you have every right to be proud of your sister and her abilities. I am sure you and others were a part of the hunt and played a big part in her success. It sounds like you might be a little on the young side (compared to some of these old guys on here - not me) and may not realize yet that a nice bull like that speaks for itself and you do not need to stretch the truth when the truth is pretty darn impressive.

Although a part of me wanted to make a 'smart' comment I took your comments as simply being really proud of your sister and your role in the hunt.

Congratulations.

The trophy is in the experience. The score or distance doesn't really matter to everyone here on MM. Thanks for sharing the picture of your sister's bull! Great memories!

My first post but wanted to say I was actually watching this bull when she shot it. Im not sure how far away she was when she shot it, but They told me 900 yards when i talked to them that day. They showed me whear she shot from and it was a long ways. I didnt range it. I was going to shoot the bull but she shot it when i was getting set up. I figured 350
I seen the bull up close when they got it out and it is an awsome bull. I did not get to score it but its 350 -360 class bull. A trophy for sure
I have to say that is probably the worst picture to post of that bull. Looking at the pic I would say 320 bull. That is a terrible pic of that bull. It is great bull and the pic dont do it justice.
Congrates to her and her family on great bull
