Im new to MM but I have been hearing of alot of poaching in this area! I cant believe this! Im so mad I could throw rocks at my own truck! You guys hear of this? And where is Sanpete County?

If poaching in an area(that you have no idea where it is) makes you that mad,i feel really bad for your truck. its gonna get the chit pounded out of it!

By the way poaching isn't new, whether its in sanpete, tooele, juab, davis, or any other county in utah or the US. is happens. It shouldn't but it does, beating the crap out of your own vehicle aint gonna make it better, but it'll make for a good next post" Look what the poachers made me do to my truck.....pics included"

>It's in Central utah. I
>have heard of one elk
>but nothing else poached down
>here.

Are you talking about the bull between Manti and Sterling?

Maybe they consider it poaching when an animal is hit with a car. A drive from Manti to Ephraim, or Ephraim to Mt. Pleasant, is enough to make a sportsman sick seeing all the dead deer and elk. I don't understand why a taller fence can't be built, There is enough dedicated hunters in the area that would be willing to help build and pay for the fence.... Something needs to be done....

No I hadn't heard of that one. This was a small bull that was shot in some fields between ephraim and mt pleasant.

I agree with you 100% on the taller fence suggestion. There are too many animals killed and people injured on that stretch of highway to not warrant some kind of improvement.

LAST EDITED ON Dec-19-07 AT 12:09PM (MST)[p]Unfortunately a taller fence only compounds problems.

Those animals need to "free roam" where ever and however they need to to get to food and water.
What sucks is there are many roads and highways seperating resting, feeding and watering areas.

The animals really take a chance crossing those busy roads, but they have too to survive, but unfortunately some don't.

I'm from Sanpete county, and have heard plenty of stories from all over the place. Yes, there are potchers here. But, I'm sure you know of some where your from. You don't worry about our little county, we are just fine.

P.S. remember, theres no peter like a sanpeter!

I'm glad it pisses him off, cause it pisses me off too (though I won't be throwing rocks at my truck). These people are stealing from everyone and it's a joke! I have only hunted out of Utah twice, both hunts were in Wyoming. Man was I impressed when I actually had a Fish Cop check me in the field. I have hunted various areas of Utah for 9 years now and never once have I ever been checked for a tag or even stopped in the field. In fact the only time I have even seen a Fish Cop in the hills during a hunt was this year on the muzz hunt, he just drove on past. I wish the state would allocate more money to the Wildlife Division so they could patrol stuff better. I do realize poaching is happening at all times of the year, but they've gotta start somewhere.

Thats a lot of ground to cover.

Ephraim to Mt. Pleasant isn't that far. They need to do something about those elk/deer and the roads. They have to cross the main roads to winter. Remember a couple years ago the DWR thought they would just go shoot the Elk instead so they wouldn't get hit by cars. Now that's using your brain (eye roll). They need to high fence it with some sort of crossings because those animals gotta cross the roads to feed.
