Ok guys so on Monday September the 8th I stuck this bull. Shot was a little back but still good. The arrow stayed in him. As everyone knows about the massive amounts of rain southern UT received. I managed to get the shot during a break in the storm. No more than 5min after the heavy rain hit again. I had good blood up until the rain. It was raining so hard it washed his tracks and blood away in a short amount of time. I have looked for him for the last 5 days. No luck. After contacting the DWR I will be back to search more. But im offering a $1000 cash reward to anyone who leads me to my bull. 5x6 360"class

LAST EDITED ON Sep-14-14 AT 08:24AM (MST)[p]As mentioned above keep an eye out for birds...and also listen for yotes. I wish I lived closer and could help out. If he's dead the birds will definitely show up. Super nice bull and I hope you find him!

We had the exact same scenario on the wasatch. The archer was able to get two arrows into the bull and then the skies opened up!!! We are headed up this Saturday to look for birds.

Hope you find that bull, he is beautiful.

Wish I would have seen this ealier, but you need to try blue star. It is used by law enforcement at crime scenes and they are making a cheaper version for hunters. Everyone that hunts around or in rain needs to try this stuff it's great. You just mix it with water in a spray bottle and then in the dark spray at your last known tracking spot and the blood glows. In rain it actually works even better because the hemoglobin spreads out and makes a wider trail. It doesn't fix bad shots, but will give you another tool to use if you run into a wall. If I were you I would still go try it. Not sure about all the details of your tracking job but might give you another lead even after several days.

What a great bull! Sorry that happened.

I will be hunting elk there on the muzzleloader. I will keep my eyes open for him. Should be easy to identifiy if found. If you decide to release more info feel free to PM me.

That's a beauty of a bull. I sure hope you can turn him up. Rain can turn even good shots into lost animals. I'm sorry for the circumstances you encountered with the rain storms.

Several years ago, I killed a buck with my bow. Looking back on it, if we had experienced significant rain shortly after I shot him, we may not have found him. About 200 yards into our tracking him, he left the blatant trail and headed straight downhill into some think, think stuff. If there had been no blood trail, we would have never turned like he did.

Get a dog or dogs if you can. And watch for birds. Sad to lose the meat and cape. Good luck..!!

Great looking bull, sorry to hear you can't find him.

A number of years ago I hit an Idaho bull at 17 feet. He blew out a lung at forty yards and then nothing after another fifty yards. Sounds like a similar hit that I had. I ended up only getting one lung and bulls can go along way on one lung and actually even survive. How was the angle? Hate to lose an animal but unfortunately it does happen.

Dutton has some nasty holes that would hide a bull. I loved my 2005 hunt down there but my body sure remembers the beating it took. Hopefully a rifle hunter will turn something up for you.

>I sent you a PM. We
>located your Bull.

This is awesome....I hope!!! I am REALLY anxious to hear this whole story unfold....preferably before I leave on my elk hunt in a couple days!!!

dont say any thing more it might be unlawfull to pay for bull or charge for finding it????

Update:

It turns out this isn't the bull I shot. what happened was a very large bull came right from where the bull was located. I thought it was him but didn't look at him extremely close. I was more focused on the shot. after the shot I remember my dad asking "where did that big 6 come from!?" but after looking over the photos he decided that maybe it was the 5x6 I shot. but it turns out the 5x6 was located alive and well and harvested with a rifle. no arrow hole to be found. but still there is a big 6 down out there in the area. back to the drawing board!

No I shot one arrow at what I thought was this 5x6. Apparently it was a nother large bull that came in. I just looked and saw a huge rack and thought it was him. Prepared for the shot and took it when it came. This 5x6 was shot with a rifle and had no arrow hole in him

I think he's still holdin an empty sack but he's figured out which bull he hit too far back!

You wouldn't be the first guy to shoot at a different animal than you thought you were shooting at. Pretty cool you had opportunity to kill 2 giant bulls... I sure hope you find the one you hit.

As for the 5x6... We better get some photos of him on the ground..!!! :)
