Well since I haven't met my goals of taking a 180" class or 30" wide buck or a 350" bull yet. I thought I would add one more tough one to my list of to do's. Shoot a 160-170" class buck and 330-340" class bull elk in the same year that would combine for over 500". Have any of you guys been able to do this?

My goals are just to be able to hunt as much as possible........I'm succesfull every year :)

If huntin is a sport.....Well your lookin at an athlete!

i've killed enough ducks to equal well over 500 inches!!! plus one big ol' green head had 15 in bases on his legs!!

the only eagle with enough power and speed to kill and gut you with one shot

YEA I DID......I KILLED A 468 SOUTH TEXAS BRUSH COUNTRY TURTLE, THEN BAGGED A BEAVER THAT WENT 42 B N C FOR A TOTAL SCORE OF 510....I KNOW....QUIET A FEAT...I WAS JUST LUCKY.....YD.

ridge,

I am sure quite a few have done this? I was fortunate last year to go 532 gross last year on elk and deer. Lets go 600" for elk, deer, and antelope in one year's time? I grossed 614. :)

I think hitting these marks is mostly what kind of tags you draw in a year. Keep after the draws and it will happen.

One goal I have not hit is a 180+ net mule deer and it is killing me. One of the most basic goals, but probably one of the hardest. These guys that can legally kill 180+ mule deer consistently are pretty good. I wish I was one of them.

ktc, very inpressive. Thanks for the reply. I was wondering if I was only going to get all smart ass remarks on this one. I had a friend last year that shot a 330" bull in the Uintas and then missed a 200" + buck in southern Utah. So it got me thinking it would be cool to connect on both to total over 500" in the same year.

My oldest son killed an Idaho muley(213) and a Washington bull(332) in the same year -2004- at the ripe old age of 13yrs. Ive been hunting for 21 yrs. and have hunted in 7 states and 1 Canadian province and still havent killed a buck or bull as big as he has!

LAST EDITED ON Dec-23-07 AT 07:53PM (MST)[p]Based on what you just posted, 500" on general OTC areas would be VERY impressive. A 320 bull in the Uintahs is very hard as is a 180 buck in general areas. To get them both in one year would be some crazy good fortune.

I am beating my head against the wall figuring out this 180+ thing. Some people are not into the numbers and that is ok too.

jack,

Those are some great animals by your son! 213 buck? That is great!

A 180 buck is a heckuva buck on public ground in any state or province. If you have heard of "lowland mulies", that is my son on the cover of volume #4. Just didnt want you to think I was bs'n ya.-widetrack

LAST EDITED ON Dec-23-07 AT 10:26PM (MST)[p]I'm not an elk hunter so I haven't killed any inches there but....in the last 5 years I've killed 4 muleys with a grand total of 770 inches of bone. All public land and all DIY. God I love British Columbia. :)

4 mulies at 770? Now that is a goal I would like to meet! Pretty impressive numbers BC! Like I said, those mulies have put an ass whoopin' on me. You wouldn't want to invite a Utard up for a hunt would ya?
