I have been thinking about getting some trail cameras to use to see what is some basins that I will be bow or muzz hunting. The places where I want to put them are at timberline.

Have any of you ever had any luck doing this?

I am specifically looking at trying to capture pictures of mule deer.

Thanks.

I have always wanted to do the same, just never have.Seems like my trailcamera gets more use on the winter range.Cant shoot the deer but it sure is nice to see what you dont see come deer season.

I love using trail cameras. I currently have three Moultrie Gamespy200 3.1mp Cameras that I have used over the past two seasons for elk and deer in Northern Utah and Southern Idaho. I think that they are a great tool, because they let you know time, temp, moon phase and gives me a chance of seeing that big buck or bull and knowing that he is in the area. The 6 volt rechargeable batteries honestly last at least two months without a recharge and my 1GB memory cards will hold well over 1000 pics. So I can hike up and check them out once every couple of weeks. I bring along a card reader so I can look at them right there on the spot and decide if I need to move the camera. I like setting them up on trails in areas that I know should hold good deer and I just don't have the time to scout. I really look forward to checking these cameras on my pre-season scouting trips.
