Dissapointed in Pahvant Rifle Elk Tag holder

During the Muzzleloader deer hunt, I came across a kill site of one of the Rifle Elk tags. I was quietly hunting in some trees that have typically been good bedding grounds for deer. Ahead of me and uphill, I noticed a reflection which I initially thought was just a slicked off log. I lifted my binos and caught something much different. I hiked up to the spot of the reflection and to my dismay, I found a kill site that really made me upset.

Congratulations to the hunter on drawing an awesome tag, but shame on you for leaving all of this litter behind. Why trash a mountain that just blessed you with an amazing gift?

There was a blue rain poncho, packaging from game bags, a water bottle, and a large piece of plastic sheeting (which was the reflection I saw). Clearly, when the last pack was loaded and your group was leaving the site, there is no way that you would have just forgot or missed this stuff. You knew exactly what you were doing.

I will be back on the archery hunt next year and will have a garbage sack to pack out your trash. I would have thrown it in this year if I had a garbage sack, but did not want the scent of death with me the rest of the day as I was hunting deer as well as the carcass was swarming with bees.

Also, to the Bud Light drinker that keeps throwing all their cans out their window on the mountain roads.........knock it off.....this is getting ridiculous. The blue cans are everywhere. It's one thing that you drink and are likely driving up there, but it is another if you are carrying a dangerous weapon to boot!

I have found similar things up on various mountains I have hunted. The only thing I can figure is that the package must weigh a lot more empty then it did when it was full, otherwise, why would they not carry it back out?

What a sad site. That is one of the worst I have seen or been shown. Two minutes and very little weight and none of that would have been left.

If everyone left the camp, kill site and woods a little better then they found it, we would all be better off. This is what the anti's is always looking for. Only takes one or two to ruin it for thousands!!!

There were only a handful of tag holders. Contact the game warden for that unit and see if he'd be willing to send a letter to each tag holder, along with pictures and tell them that whoever did it has an opportunity to go back and clean up their mess before they investigate and cite whoever is found to do it.

If you can give the location of the trashed area to the DWR, they may be able to tie it into their harvest survey. You are required to fill in the drainage and area, if you are honest. They should be able to track it down that way also....but I like the idea of giving them a chance to clean it up themselves if they will step up to the plate..

Two things I have zero tolerance for. Trashing the mountain and littering the roads with beer cans. These slobs among us should be banned for life.

Freaking people!!!!! Pisses me off. I have made a committment for myself as of the last three years or so to pick up any trash I find and haul it out, while out in the woods and have found the elk Gods seem to bless me to get into elk shortly after each time I seem to find trash, but I am with ya; that would be a big load to haul off the mountain...

Some people need a swift kick to the nuts. The sad things is, this crap happens all of the time too and people seem to get away with it.

I agree with the above statements, I would do a little digging with the DWR and see what can be done.

If you get some DNA off that carcass you would be able to submit that to the DWR and then they can cross check it with the people who had tags. I agree that people need to take responsibility for keeping the mountain clean. A few idiots give the rest of us a bad name!
