cow elk info

I'm heading to strawberry area more like west side of Indian creek. I have a elk control permit and looking for any info regarding what's the best method of finding the cow elk there. I understand that there will be a lot of deer hunters but any ideas or opinions would be greatly appreciated.

I say someone needs to stop the DWR for slaughtering all the cow elk with all the tags to get rid of the elk.
I like seeing elk when I go hunting and I am not sure why they are destroying the herds with all the cow tags.

+1 Buglelk. The fish and game have effectively all but destroyed the elk herd in the Strawberry valley with all of the "elk control" permits they have sold over the past five years. I mean no disrespect to the original poster, but good damn luck finding any cows. They have made the unit you are hunting into another Fish Lake of six years ago.

Buglelk i agree with you. I love seeing elk as well. but i cant pass on the chance of filling my freezer with good elk meat for my family.

If I had a cow elk tag I would do my part and burn it. This is ridiculous, every person that you see on the mountain is "out looking for cows."

I seen some cows 1 mile away on top of the ridge I could tell you where but heck there was 100 other guys watching those two old girls.
