First Timer Colorado Hunt

I am thinking of putting in for a Colorado deer tag (rifle) and I have never put in there. Here's what I'm looking for. First off I'd like to put in for an area where I have good odds to draw. I would like to see plenty of deer...quantity not necessarily quality. I'm not looking for a monster or even a big one! I either want to hunt before October or after October. I don't want to be over run with quad-hunters. If anyone has any info or a place to start, I'd really appreciate it!

Ijust read the thread on the Colorado winterkill. Maybe there wont be the quantity of deer left! That is too bad for the deer. Starvation is not a way to go.

Units 11/211/3 all have a good population of deer and lots of public land.

Try 64-65 around Montrose, or the units north of I-70 between Glenwood Springs and Vail. Sounds like a fun hunt, good luck.

The third rifle season is usually the first week in nov. This last year, nov 3rd thru the 9th. Your like me, dont want to miss out huntin at home

What ever you do...dont hunt unit 16, Had a Bull tag and a Buck tag there this year. Hunted hard for 6 days on private and public......Saw 1 doe, 3 bull moose,and 12,000 antelope ! No snow = no animals...JMO.

If huntin is a sport.....Well your lookin at an athlete!

BOBCATBESS--I don't want to hunt in October because I will be, hopefully, in Wyoming during the middle of the month and work my schedule will not allow hunts so close together. Are you sure your 94? I'd bet my life youre 6!! HaHa

Hardway- and yes, I will be hunting in Cali, just not sure when. I'm hopefully going to draw G-3 which is late though!! Good luck, huh?
