Ha Ha nice try! The books are loaded with nice bucks. There should be a few more bucks out there that will make it thru the winter, because one cougar is wearing my tag. ;-)

I am finished with my story and waiting on a few pictures and video clips to share with MM viewers. It was an awesome hunt.

Thats an awsome lion you got there, way to keep em under control.:) Where did you get him at.

Buck, didnt kill any dogs, couldnt call them in. We did see a couple while driveing around but never got any shots at em.

TK we seen a few more nothing REAL big but did see some nice ones. They have started droping down there, we also saw 2 catus bucks.

The snow is real deep I didnt drive off of any of the roads that hadent been bladed, kind of limited alot of the areas I wanted to check out.

Most of the deer looked to be in good shape the does and small bucks looked real good some of the bigger bucks looked a little guant but they should be ok.

To tell you the honest truth I have know Idea where I killed the lion. I know it was a few miles west from rathole canyon because that was the last physical piece of ground I do recall.

Every time I have been in the books it was with someone else driving and I was asleep when we arrived and we left in the dark. That place is so big I am still getting lost every time I get out there.

Hey that is plenty close enough, that narrows it down alot. Congats on an awswome cat, are you from around the basin or did you just have a BC tag.

I am from Lehi. I didn't research the area like I should have. I chose the BC because I help a friend on his once in a life time elk hunt out there this year. I thought it would be a good place to hunt cougar because of how many deer I saw.

The division has hit the cats pretty hard out their and that is probably one reason there is a lot of deer. Elite Outfitters helped me out. I would recommend them if you need help getting your cat.

I wish I had grown up out their though. Vernal is a neat area.

Congrats on a nice cat Scott. The story is even better, can't wait to see more pictures. One shot right through the heart, you da MAN!

Very Nice Cat! Now why don't a few more guys get out there and kill some more lions?! As far as bucks, I sure see a lot, but the top end is struggling a little out there. Plenty of nice deer, but real big ones are far and few between. Good luck to all in the draws.

My gawd swb, you are one ugly dude!

Lehi? Hell, you ought to stop by and I can midget toss ya! Ha!

No, seriously, stop by and I will show you some dead rifle elk.;-)

btw; pretty nice cat!

Did you get him with your bow? I think that is a bow on your pack?

Very nice mnt. lion SWB!

You have had a really good bow hunting year, with your dandy bow muley and now this really nice cat.

congrats

Robb

swb,

Your cat sure looks to have a nice "punkin head."

Surely he is a P&Y cat? Have you measured him?

I measured him after I boiled out his skull with a caliper and he is at the minimum if he shrinks a 1/16" he is out.

When I went on this hunt I told the guide if I got a pope cat it would only be a bonus. All I really wanted was a tom with a good hide for a full body mount to add to my collection. I new when I drew the Books Cliff unit it wasn?t a unit with a lot of big cats.

I am usually a guy that likes to do things DIY but hunting cougars without dogs is just about impossible. I sure can appreciate all the work you houndsman have to go through and am pretty envious. I wish I had a couple of hounds so I could extend my hunting seasons more.

Just for fun I did my own European mount. It took me a couple of hours to boil the skull. It also took a couple of hours to whiten the skull and add a couple of clear coats to it.

I am getting the cat done in a full body mount.
