LAST EDITED ON Jan-15-08 AT 05:13PM (MST)[p]I was emailed this photo by a friend. I didn't alter the name of the jpeg file. It is govTAGdennis. By the name of the file I inferred it was a GOV tag buck. Anyone know anything?

Judging by the snow-blind looks, Gunnison perhaps.....Nice buck, congrats to the hunter, thanks a bunch for the donation.

The guy on the right is Kim Bonnet of Bucks & Bulls in Utah! I love how our state BLM and Forest service agency's will just let these non-resident outfitters guide illeaglly any where in our state. The local outfitters are restricted to a certain area but these non-resident outfitters can hunt and guide any where they want. I guess when the rich guy pays 70K+ for a tag it's ok!!!! By the way the buck scores 187 net

I have no idea, it wasn't THAT bad!!!

it may have had to do with the actual photo.
Maybe someone else saw it and asked the mods to remove it.....just a guess.

Kim has an impeccable reputation in the guiding world, I'm sure he is following the law. CoHighcountryman I sense a little jealousy in your post.

Thanks for the compliment on Kim's behalf huntinco, i have worked for his outfit for 13 years.

Me & cohighcntryman had a good conversation in the general forum about this that ended up getting nuked for some reason, i suspect because i mentioned the pictures are private and company owned.

Mr.Co'man's concern was that an out of state outfitter came into Colorado to guide. But the other gentleman in the picture IS a liscenced outfitter in the state that kim and the hunter were with.

Apparently there are some other stipulations as far as being liscenced in the entire state over there, but i have no idea how that works, i just know Kim very well and he is totally by the book and has been for 20 plus years.

Justin,
As Slam the man as stated, I have nothing against Kim or his opperation.I congradulate them on a great buck. The problem we have over here is the last few years the Gov. buck hunters and THERE guides come over and hunt wherever they please. As a registered outfitter in this stste you are only allowed to hunt/guide in a certain area within the hunt unit. IMO it's wrong for these non-resident guides to hunt wherever they please and the local outfitter has to be restricted to his permitted area JMO!!!

A friend of mine is the one who posted the photo in this post. He just emailed me and told me that the moderators actually deactivated his membership for posting the photo in the general forum. If there was a problem with the post/photo, then by all means remove it. However, it is pretty lame that they cancelled his membership if you ask me. He only wanted to let people see what he considered to be a beautiful buck. Chances are this post will be nuked soon. I also would like to congratulate the hunter and outfitter on a terrific deer.

I deleted that other thread while on the phone with the guy who thought he might have been the one who shouldn't have emailed the photo to other people. Then, before I deleted this thread, he said it was probably too late anyway and to not worry about it. So, I no longer worried about it. So, this thread still exists.

I saw guy left and guy right driving around the BlM in what looked to be a AWD rental car. They were getting around pretty good for Thanksgiving weekend.

How DO these old, overweight "outfitters" do it? Don't be tellin me that they hike for miles back, post-holing through knee deep snow to bag these monster bucks. I ain't buying that. Must be shootin on private land in someone backyard at a buck that has been pretty much protected all season. Hmmmmmm....

toughshed-

"Over weight outfitters"???

You obviously have never seen or been around Kim Bonnett, he'd run ANYONE'S butt into the ground in ANY mountain range on any given day.
I have hunted and guided right along with him many times, he's a freakin mountain goat in EXCELLENT shape!!
He actually collapsed a lung while deer hunting at 11000 feet and continued to hunt!

Don't be fooled by the large winter attire.

I'm not sure if they're in shape but I do know they hunted their butts off. At one point during the hunt they got stuck and they had to walk several miles back to town.

The blame on the out of state outfitters guiding your governor tag holders rest squarley on the CO DOW and the outfitters association. This tag was marketed by DOW that the tag holder would receive information from outfitters to help locate quality animals and direct/ guide the hunter to find the animal. When no one steps up with info the hunter has to make a decision on how best to hunt for a trophy animal. Most of these people who purchase these tags are willing to work with local outfitters and suport them. However, when no one steps up to the plate they are left to their own devices and will go with people they are comfortable working with. This particular hunter eventually got introduced to Gordon and was more than happy to work with him.

Nearly 80K for a 187" buck, no thanks. Great buck nonetheless!
