unit 65 colorado????

Hornfish, I had that tag in 2006, 3rd season. It's also good for unit 64, too. 2006 was warm & dry, so I did not have good hunting conditions. I hunted 6 days of the seven day season.
I hunted unit 65 as it had more public land. I saw a decent amount of bucks up to 24" wide and lots of deer and lots of hunters. I paid a guy to scout for me and he put me around Cimmarron. The information was good, found bucks everywhere he told me to look, just nothing real big. It was typical Colorado, as I did see some shooters on private ground next to the public that I could only watch.
It's the kind of unit that you'll probably get a 4pt buck, just not a real big one unless you get lucky as it does hold them. One guy had a 30" that he killed on the public portion but most of us were just seeing average bucks.
I'd only go back if I didn't have a draw tag in another state. The buck size was comparable to the Idaho general season if you've ever hunted that, there were just more bucks and deer than Idaho.

hunted it the year before last and found it not very good for larger bucks. Plenty of very small ones and too much private. Try another unit for bigger bucks!

I wouldn't recommend it either. I hunted it in 06 too & had a hec of a time competing with other hunters & trying to find public land. I was luck & got a decent buck & my friend shot a 2pt.
