This is the buck that I had hopes of harvesting this past season, with no luck. But I was able to get some great footage of him while scouting. I was able to watch him for three months before he disappeared prior to muzzleloader hunt. I guess that is why he got this big in the first place. At first a lot he was a young buck with great potential in the years to come. After watching him all summer and even stumbling upon his previous years shed, I then changed my mind and I think he is an old buck. He contiues to losed tine length and add more mass. Based on last year shed and a 25" inside spread in would score in the mid 170's. What do you guys think old buck or a young buck? What do you think he scores now? I really liked the fact that this buck and a drop beam as well as the forked cheaters, got to love the character and the mass! Enjoy

By lookin at the face i would say a younger deer, just shy of his prime i would say maybe 4 but i am not a expert by any means... cool lookin buck for sure. i love the main beam and cheaters. Thanks for sharing.

I wouldn't think he is a young buck by looking at his profile wearing a wintercoat. Large body, heavy burrs/pedicles, and apparently enough brains/experience to elude general season utah hunters (I assume Utah); sounds like he has a few years under the belt.
Beautiful buck and better luck next year!

LAST EDITED ON Jan-21-08 AT 08:05PM (MST)[p]Sweet buck. Will you post the pictures of the sheds to help compare? How far were the sheds from where the bucks summers?

Old buck by looking at his head and his swayed stomach and back in the 2nd picture. My bets would be that it is an old deer with that mass and characteristics.

Lots of white in the face usually means old buck. Its hard to say. My personal opinion I would say he is an older buck. Sweet pics nonetheless.

Hey Pushin30, We actually seen this buck late in the muzzleloader across the canyon, but by the time we got over to where we thought he went, he was gone. Tried waiting him out but could never turn him up again. We were the ones camped way out west of you guys, in the 2 trailers. He actually was a little busted up when we saw him. Cool pictures!!!
