I was wondering how utah dose there points, If you have 6 points dose that mean you get 6 points + 1 for that year meaning you have 7 points. Just wondering I havent been able to find it in the proclamation, and figured some of you guys would know.

Thanks.

So what is the bonus point chart on MM based on, 6 or 7 in the above scenerio?

unless they have updated them, they are the 2006 odds, but Ut has come out with the 2007 odds so maybe they are the new ones.

you would figure them with 7 points.

Just to clarify. You do get your current bonus points plus 1 chance in the drawing but the plus 1 doesn't count to put you in the max points draw.As an example there are 2 guys with 15 points for deer this year. They get first chance at a tag.

The huntin fool has Utah odds for free: http://www.huntinfool.com/members/states/utah.asp and they use the 6 plus 1 for odds calculations. Most everyone does, so if you see it took 6 points to draw, it meant that applicant had 6 pts or 6 plus 1. If it was posted any different way, i.e. with the plus 1, then the 0 pt category would never show up.

The odds shown are always for what happened LAST year. It is impossible to determine this years draw odds because A: the number of tags for the upcoming year arent even determined yet (and with the winterkill going as it is, there will be damn few tags available this year) and B: you cant know how many people will be putting in for the various regions.

Also be aware that the draw odds system has a few math errors in it... its close but its definitely not 100% correct.

I have a question, I meesed up along the way. I thought I had 5 points. I somehow have two bonus points & three prefence points. How did I manage that?

chasemike, sounds like you got mixed up between the LE units and the general tags, if I understand correctly....bonus points for le tags and preference point for general tags, but I just started getting familiar with utah regs this year, so maybe someone else can chime in on this.

I have a different question...if you don't apply this year due to the license fee and all that...do you lose your preference point from last year? ANyone know?

No, you keep them. I have 4 bonus points for elk, but haven't put in for LE elk for 8 years. They are still there ready for me to use when I start applying for elk again. Switched to putting in for deer back then and I am still waiting to draw that deer tag. 8 points this year and counting...

As long as you stay active with big game apps/pp/bp you can flip/flop on species!
chasemike bummer on your pp/bp dilemma!

Nope you just have the 6 points, and when you look at odds from last year remember that in that draw you only had 5, so the odds will probably be worse this year than they were last. Good luck in the draw.
