Hello guys. Looking for some thoughts on what to do with 9 pts. My dad retired this last year and is looking to go on a hunt. He doesn't wanna get any older. I have no problem burning these points if there is something that fits. I have a fused back with a couple of surgeries so getting older doesn't help me as well. Dad is 63 and I will be 43. We are in decent hiking a d would like to come with a pickup loaded with a camper and be able to use the quad for transportation. Possibly will have a buddy with a horse to help with meat but can't count on that. Appreciate any info on what you would do. Thanks guys

Not a lot of options. The following units had every NR draw w 9 pps last year. ee04004r, em02001r, em04901r. That's it. 1st is mid Nov, either sex in unit 40. The other 2 are mid Oct, bull only. There are also some units that take fewer points, that might fit. CPW hunt planners @ 303 297-1192 can help w many more details, its a free call. Good luck.

I'd suggest looking at the link for elk and go to the Pref. Points required report.

There are a few areas that allow ATV's on designated trails however for many areas, an ATV is useless and illegal. In the area I hunt, the Forest Service recently made it illegal to even have an ATV on many of the county roads where you can drive any State licensed vehicle but not an ATV. That is their way of dealing with all the complaints they have gotten. So just a word of caution.
9 pts should at least get you into a limited unit so a bit less crowded than the OTC units. Perhaps if you go through the list and narrow it down to which units you'd qualify for and ask about specific units you might get some more "productive" feedback. Good luck and hope you and your Dad have a good hunt wherever you choose!

Thanks for your input guys. Really appreciated. Just wanna see dad get his first elk. They don't have to be huge. Thanks COLOelkman for the atv info even tho not what I wanna here. Like to keep the atv for road travel. Never been into abusing land. Just like to use as a way to get to my hike.
