I would'nt classify him as a monster. He's a big buck, but not a monster. I think he's a low 190's. And I'd definintly find another taxidermist.

Wanted, if that aint a monster what is? That thing is a stud. Your outta your mind. That is a 187+" Deer. A stud in my book. Definately worth an arrow!

It's really hard to see the forks on his driver's side. But I'll take a shot and say 186. And he is a stud, no doubt.

I GUESS IF YOU LAY A PISSCUTTER NEXT TO HIM YOU CAN CALL HIM A MONSTER CUZZ HE'LL ALWAYS LOOK BIG NEXT TO A DINK!!!

THATS NO MONSTER!!!

AS STATED ABOVE!!!

A NICE BUCK BUT NO DICE!!!

GOOD GAWD I THOUGHT NEVADA HAD BIG "MONSTER" BUCKS???

THIS IS MY NEW GUN,YOU MAY NOT LIKE IT,YOU'LL LIKE IT A HELL OF A LOT LESS WHEN IT HITS ITS DESTINATION!!!

Nevada has the same problem as most other states..too many tags and seasons.Somebody show me a photo of a true monster the last 5 years out of Nevada. What kind of bucks has the state wide tag holders killed lately?

HOW MENY MORE DO YOU WANT!

Nevada is the most underrated state in all of the west when it comes to mule deer I think. I have seen my share of 200"+ deer over the years and thats a monster in my book. Lets first define monster and then we can actually start talkin about monsters. To me a 200"+ deer is a monster anywhere. I dont give a sh*t what any of you say.

LAST EDITED ON Feb-04-08 AT 09:23PM (MST)[p]Any dates and what state? Greg looks young in some of them photos.LOL! I think if you talk too Greg he would be the first to admit Quality is not what it use to be.

I will agree that the deer arent as big as maybe they were back in the 80's and early 90's. But Nevada does still have some monsters out there trust me. Like timber said Nevada really is a under rated state in the west.

I think the pont is no matter what state were talking about there is a monster in it you may never see it but he's there. Nevada is so hard to hunt and thats why not alot of huge bucks are killed. You don't just wake up and say I want to hunt the rubys that just don't cut it. alot of poeple don't put in the days of working out to be able to hunt big bucks. thats why there are more and more road hunters. and thats fine not every one can hunt like I do. but the more people that are not willing to put in the effort to hunt on there ground the less big bucks that are going to be killed.

I don't think N. Nevada will ever be get back to pre 1992 deer #'s. To many Tags and to many Elk. Sure there will always be a few big ones out there. But with the focus being on Elk and not deer you do the math.

who scored him, and lets see some of these big nevada buck photos of the past 5 yrs, i would have to agree with some, thats a big buck but no monster.

LWH, you come on here sayin thats not a monster huh? Well lets see your monsters!? Or if you even have a deer over the 200" mark. 200 is a monster anywhere any time. Less than years ago a world class buck was killed by greg k. This year a 208 typical was takin in 114-115. But I guess 200 isnt a monster to you.

all i asked was who scored him, you, i rate my monsters bigger than that, i would have never thought he was that big, but pictures never give the buck justice, im not getting in a pissing match with you. Its a big buck no monster. Great job to the hunter, gregs photos has some nevada bucks there, but most of them are not, nevada is down, and you can ask most of us that was out this year, to many tags, to many elk, and to many pissers. This is not just my opinion its a fact from alot of us that spend alot of time scouting from summer to hunting till november.

Im out in the hills ALOT. More than alot of people on this post and possibly more than alot of people on this whole site. And sure this isnt a huge buck everywhere in Nevada like on the Henries or the strip, but Nevada is by far the most underrated state in the west, by far bar none. I seen alot of """monster""" bucks this year. I agree there is alot of people and alot of little deer, but Nevada does shave some """monsters""" out there still, I would know, I have seen them. Most people say that because they just ride around road hunting all the time instead of getting off the beaten path and gettin to where they live, whether it be a lack of intelligence or lack of ambition. Nevada is a great mule deer state, and is way underrated. 200 is 200. Anywhere and 200 is a true monster.

Here is another tiny nevada buck

I Agree Nevada Is The Most Under Rated State. Most Hunters Dont Put In The Time To Scout Or Effort In The Hunt. They Dont See Nothing From The Quad And Say There Are No Deer. You Have To Look For Them.I Spend Alot Of Time Scouting And Hunting This YearSeen4 Antelope Over 80 Inch Harvested One,Seen 9 Bucks Over 30 Inches Harvested One 31 1/2.You Have To Hunt Not Ride! Gordon RAM4G

How the heck old are you kids anyways? Did any of you hunt Nevada in the 60's..70's ..80's.. 90's? Have you been on any winter ranges lately filming monsters? How come neither state wide tag holders tagged out?Nevada is over rated for deer.

Get of your damn quads and out of your freakin trucks and try walking. I hear deer dont like trucks, just a rumor I guess though.

I know kid you think you're the God's gift to hunting, but there are a lot of people on here who have hunted Nevada for a lot of years who have been quite sucessful. To say that we are road hunters because we say the Quality has went down the past few years is crap.I personally spent 90 days "on foot" in the field pursuing mulies this past year, and ate a tag.The buck posted is a damn nice archery buck, but they are'nt as plentiful.nOT ONLY THAT BUT IF THE HUNTINGS SO DAMN GOOD YOU SHOULD KEEP YOU'RE MOUTH SHUT!

timberline how old are you, you get your hackles up on every little thing that is said, nevada has big bucks, have seen some in there winter ranges, some great bucks are killed every year, every person has there differences on what they like and what they consider a big buck, some people like alot of trash, some people like a heavy horn typical, some people look at the width, Me myself the more bone the better, i have a buck that is 37 inches that airplanes out that i consider a ugly buck, i have a 26 inch heavy heavy horned buck that i consider a bigger buck, wider does not mean bigger, this year i did see alot of bucks over 30 inches but there fronts were crab, i seen bucks over 30 with extras , they were willow horn and also crab, they were not shooters, i myself do have 2 bucks from nv and 1 buck from the strip that net over 200, and i do spend alot of time in the mountains and i dont even own a quad ,horses yes, quad no. And the last photo i know him real well, he is one of the best, he spends alot of time scouting and noone will out glass him.

lwh I agree with what you are saying, the trophey is in the eye of the beholder for sure. This is a buck of a lifetime with a bow for me for sure but that does not mean it meets everyone's standards for a monster buck. We all come from diff. hunting back grounds and all have our dream buck in our head and I bet there all diff. and it also depends on what success you have enjoyed to this point. Me I dont have deer like that on my wall so would be thrilled, but to someone who has been fortunate enough to have such success might have their sights a little higher. I guess there is nothing wrong with that just gives me a better chance at such a buck.

Dont come on here telling me that Im young and dont know what the hell im talking about. Maybe I havent killed a 200 buck or a 400 bull or a 80 inch antelope but I know my sh*t. Better than alot of people on this site, not everyone but alot. And Im not gonna come on here and let people start bashin my state about how shi**y the quaility is. There are big bucks here. Like i said maybe not like the strip or the kaibab or the henries but Nevada can hold its own. It always gets over looked and is in fact the most underrated in the West bar none. As for the road hunters, most of them just piss me off cuz they think they drive around dont see sh*t and assume there isnt anything there, and therefore NV gets a bad label. As for you mo, I may not be gods gift to hunting, but im sure i know a hell of alot more than you. And dont tell me when to keep my mouth shut, you shut yours. 200 is 200. Thats a monster in my book, as well as alot of other people. If you dont like NV then stay the hell out. Wont hurt my feelings.

Quite a pissin' match we have here!
C'mon Timber...I personally love road hunters. The more the better. You know why? Because that means they're not out hiking next to me.
How can they give NV a bad label? If someone tells you there's no good bucks in an area and you know for a fact there is...that's a good thing. That's less attention to an area you know holds good bucks.
I think mo had a less obvious point when he said to keep your mouth shut.

buckhaven, that is a great buck, and yes you should be proud of this buck. I never once was taking away from this buck, i just voiced my opinion from big buck to monster. I would never dog on anyones trophy, expecialy a great stick and string buck, but i will stand by my words that nv is down, there are great bucks i wont lie, but it is down. This blog could become a pissing match but it wont be with me. Im the one that is on the reading side of these laughing. And so what if nv is underrated thats good, cut the tags, timberline you need to not let things get so personal, people have opinions, everyone just doesnt think like you, My advise which i know you dont want to hear is what mo and mulebuck says, if your seeing that great of bucks you should keep your mouth shut, befor everyones camp on your street corner following you out. This is a great site and there is alot of knowledge and knowledgeable people on hear, dont get so worked up.

Fact is there are alot of MONSTERS in this state but there not as wide spread as other places. I did sit in a canyon this year in NV and watch three diferant groups of deer and all three had a 200 inch deer in them. Two were non typ and one was a monster typical. You can go one canyon north or south and theres nothing bigger than a 3x3. Point is....I know where the monsters are and thats what keeps me hunting in my state. As for this buck I posted.....I didnt ask anyone if THEY thought it was a monster. I know it is because I have seen it alive. I think its a monster thus the heading...NEVADA MONSTER.

This is a hilarious conversation thanks to Timberline. Thanks for the laughs man...
For someone who knows their s*!t more than most here (Timberline)you missed the golden one! Let me clue you in "Mr. I know"
THE GOLDEN RULE: Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

I love it. Keep up the good work Timberline, there is a lot we can obviously learn from you, you know, since you know more than most here; and we all hunt from atv's. (wink) For someone who knows so much about hunting how come you have not killed a trophy class buck?
You better get some thicker skin if you plan to disrespect the rest of us here that probably carry many more years of hunting than yourself. Just some advice...oh and another piece of advice...shhhhhhhhhhhh!

In regards to the original buck posted...nice buck, but I am having a hard time seeing 200+ inches of antler there. Just my opinion, could be the picture, but I just don't see it. That looks to me to be closer to 180-190"

Oh right, you have to kill big bucks to be a good hunter huh? I know alot of people that have never killed a huge buck that know a ton and are excellent hunters. Like I said maybe I havent killed a 200 buck yet, but I do know my sh*t. Maybe you should shut your mouth. You dont even know me. And first of all I didnt say I know more than anyone on here, I said more than alot of people. Like said before, thats fine if you dont like it here or dont think there is big bucks here, thats fine, dont apply, stay outta the state, the less the better. Maybe I dont have 20+ years of hunting experience, and Im not braggin I know a ton, but I know enuff to get me by and find big bucks every year. Tell ya what, dont come here. There is no big bucks here. Ever, never has been and never will be. Great buck NV_hunter, a monster in my book, even if it is from nevada! ;)

Timberline you need to back off a little dude.
You don't need to be blasting everyone, just because they don't agree with you about what is a monster buck.
Who are you tring to covince that Nevada has alot of big bucks.
Sounds like its hard enough to draw a tag there now.

In my opinion ,as a true Nevada Native, the Deer ,Elk,lopes, rams of all types and everything else as far as big game hunting goes here in the desert .It SUCKS .You guys should stop waisting youre money on tags.Dont apply .Besides ,the gas is more expensive here than any other state. As a matter of fact ,everything is more expensive,Hunting here is not worth it.STAY HOME.

Im not bashing anyone. I never said your an idiot if you dont think this is a monster. I said I know it is thats all I said so dont go accusing me of sh*t. +1 fldrw
