LAST EDITED ON Feb-08-08 AT 08:28AM (MST)[p]This may be a long shot but here we go. My dad was telling me a story about my grandpa shooting the biggest buck in Nevada some time from the mid to late 50's, I think 56, but I'm not sure. They lived in Eureka at the time. He went off to Vietnam and his parents divorced when he was away and the buck magically disappeared. I was wondering if there is a book with pictures so I can see this buck or any kind of record to prove my dad is full of manure or telling the truth.

Thanks for your help

The number two non-typical in the state of Nevada was shot on the Diamond Mtns. back in the day around that time, and I believe the hunters name was Dan Avery but I am not 100% sure and I don't have my record book with me. The old Nevada record books might be a good place for you to start your search, especially the 1990 edition of the Nevada record book, in the back half of the book they have a number of old bucks that we harvested and have a number of pics in there. PM me with your grandpas name and I will look through my books and let you know if I can find anything.

LAST EDITED ON Feb-09-08 AT 09:20PM (MST)[p]I went through my old B&C books and his Grandfather's name is no where in there. I even went through the Nevada record Books I have and still the same thing.

I have a feeling that his Grandads buck never got entered into any records back then, which is too bad now since he is trying to locate the buck.

Thanks for your input I got some more info out of my dad and he said that my gradpa had a bronze medallian which was about the size of a 50 cent piece. My pa also said my gradpa shot it the year he went into the navy which was when he was 17 so that would be around 1955 or 1956. He also said it had about 7 points on each side so it might note be to high in the record books. I know Nevada's Division of Wildlife does a big buck contest every year, so I was hoping there is some kind of record with this info in it. It looks like I've got a long road ahead of me.

Thanks again
