Congrats!!! What hunt season did you draw with your 19 points? I put in for the Boulder muzzy tag with 16 points & thought I was a lock for the tag but have not had a CC hit yet for $285 (still holding out hope!!!) Maybe you ended up with my tag

Congrats on the tag! Should be a great year on the Boulder.
Coondog, elkassassin doesn't put it in! He just buys a point every year and says he put in so that he doesn't have to pull the trigger on one of them pisscutter bulls utah now manages for. I think his goal is to someday be all alone at the top of the todumb pole. When the time come for him to go on to greener pastures his claim to fame will be, "That poor bastard that had 50 bonus points and still couldn't draw".

400 would be cool, but a I'm not sure it's realistic. It's most certainly possible, but not a realistic goal Anywhere. I do think the hardest part of this hunt will be passing up 340 bulls though.

Good luck to you too Kawboy. This will probably be my best opportunity at a really great elk. Unlike other units where I would typically shoot the first good bull I have the chance at, here I'll have to actually try to judge a little. Don't want to make a mistake, shoot a piss cutter and have to hang my head on MM. Have to practice judging as much as shooting and calling.

I think sometimes we put way too much pressure on ourselves, trying to shoot the best animal in the unit. A hunt like that should be "nothing but fun", and if you shoot a big bull, that is only icing in the cake. No one needs to "hang their head on MM", even if you eat tag soup. In fact, the Coolest hunt thread I have ever read on MM was from CAelknuts on his archery Monroe hunt and he came home with the tag still in his pocket.

Good luck Kawboy and goldhunter. If you don't know the unit, better do your homework. Many hunters go planning to have a hard time staying off the trigger and would be glad to find a 340 by the end of the hunt. It's a tuff hunt, but it does have some awesome bulls. I hope you both find the bull your dreaming of.

LAST EDITED ON May-23-15 AT 10:18AM (MST)[p]I had Wasatch archery 3 years ago and didn't kill a bull. Spent a lot of time and even though I didn't kill it's one of my favorite hunts! Kawboy was there most days step for step with me, whatever you kill or don't kill doesn't matter! It's the opportunity and what you make of it! My guess judging from experience hunting with him though, he will shoot the tree by the bull lol.
