Here's my scenario-advice sought

I would like to describe my hunting area with hopes of painting a good enough picture for advice on how you might hunt it. I know it's not as good as seeing it for yourself but it's worth a discussion anyway.
Assuming temperature is lows of 30 at night to highs of 65 during day.
Topography is steep and rolling, some moderate canyons with creeks and foliage/timber but the remainder of the hills are mostly grass and sage with pockets of timber, some rocky patches and rock face cliffs.
Water through plenty of creeks and food is everywhere
This area is miles and miles from any civilization
No pressure from hunters other than myself
Elevation ranges from 4500 to 7000'
I know there are good bucks and plenty of deer in the area from scouting but come hunting time (even though the area is completely devoid of pressure) I can't seem to get on a good buck. I'm five miles in from any road. Thanks for your thoughts.

In those temperatures, I'd hunt on the north side in the thick stuff. Spot and stalk probably won't do much good, because they aren't hungry and water isn't a problem. They are hot. They are probably almost completely nocturnal.

I'd hope to find cooler temps (maybe later in the season), but without that, I'd find a place near the top of the north side of a hill...hopefully with a little seep....and still hunt through the thick stuff.

I am a glassing junky, It sounds like a spotters dream. Get comfortable on top of that 7000' peak and glass til your eyes bleed. Patience young grasshopper.. good luck

the above is all good.
It would also help if you gave us the hunt dates.?
Whether or not there is winter range close by or is this summer range only?
approx. area deer population?

I think what you really need is a second pair of eyes...
Call me....
hehe

By the way,
I live in UT.
There are a lot of UTARDS that live here.
I have also seen quite a few WYOMORONS, NEVADUHNS, COLORADORKS, ID-IOTS and AIRHEADZONANS in my travels.
