How is the weather affecting the deer herd up around the N.Ca and N.Nv.Border area around X5b ca side wets of empire on the Nv side. I know alot of deer winter in calif, and move back to Nv after the snow melts off just wondering what is being seen up that way.

X5b is fine.Snowed on and off all of Jan.But never did get very deep. Most of the mountains are clear of snow now except for the north sides and shaded areas in that zone. Most of the heavy snow stayed up in the sierras and cascades.

Northern cal buck in january, snow was deep but its mostly gone now he was about 26 to 28 inch 3x2.

Got pretty deep for awhile but the south facing slopes have been clear for about 10 days. Another series of storms predicted this week but the first 2 aren't suposed to be much and probably rain. Great winter round here for deer and if we get the spring rains, for upland and waterfowl too.

Did see some roadkills when it was deep though.

No road kills in january that I saw but I was only there for the day.My brother took this pic of a train kill last saturday in the same area.
