Wondering if anyone in southwest Wyoming or eastern Idaho happened to hit a pretty nice buck in the horn with a muzzy broadhead. The shed is a five point and has grown around the broadhead and is really cool.

How 'bout a pic?

There is growth around the broadhead? this would have to mean it was shot in mid aug, while the antler was still developing! what a cool find. please post pics.

Probally one of those 100 yard head shots.

I killed an elk in Arizona this past season that had a broadhead stuck in his hind quarter. It was pretty well healed up though, so it may have been from the '06 season.

How often do you think they heal up if hit superficially with an arrow and the broadhead remains in the muscle? Seems like you hear about people finding them pretty frequently. I'm not asking as a slam to archers, just curious.

That's actually a good thing about bowhunting. An animal has a better chance of surviving with a clean cut as opposed to an infected gash by a bullet. A rifle shot in that area might be fatal in a day or so. Rifle hunters wound way more game from my experience.

Show a pic of the shed.

I've seen far more wounded animals during rifle season. More rifle hunters, more opportunitites for more shots at more animals at all ranges. Make sense?
