New Mexico unit 45 archery

LAST EDITED ON Jul-08-15 AT 02:51PM (MST)[p]Anyone here with experience in the Pecos Wilderness? I drew second season archery elk there this year and am unfamiliar with the area. I really want to head out there with a good game plan, and would welcome any wisdom/advice.

My buddy had one of the sheep tags in there last year. He encountered a bunch of elk but they were 6-8 miles in from the trailhead. May consider pack animals to hunt effectively.
