im sitting on 13 points for elk, thinking of switching it up and going for a muzzleload elk hunt next year in the Utah draw. What unit would you put in for?

If I was set on a muzzy hunt and wanted to hunt in 2016 for sure, I would not hesitate to hunt the Wasatch.

I am excited to check out the Manti this year a little bit as well. But I have not been there on the muzzy hunt before.

Looks like the ones you could have drawn this year were Cache, Manti, Fishlake, Wasatch, and west Desert. And 50% odds on Mt. Dutton. From what I hear, good bulls in all of them. Depends on which you could scout better.

I just bought a new muzzle loader, Gonna try the general elk muzz hunt this fall, (if I can find a spot that is close to hime and has elk in it that time of year) Im still 5 years or more out on a rifle hunt for limited entry elk. Im sick of waisting time to draw a damn tag. Muzz offers better odds. I would be more then happy with a 340" bull. I don't need the monster on the hill.

Maybe get the Gen muzzy Spike tag and go hunt the LE unit you have the best chance to draw so you can get to know it?

I have a Manti Muzzy elk tag this year. So if you look at my HAC you can see how it goes. I am excited and it should be a fun hunt.

MantiElkMan, PM sent.

Please dear, That's good sound advice.
How goes it Robb?
