Its too bad i didn't see an elk during the muzzleloader hunt, I would have had an excellent year. Antelope was taken at unit 12 and the mule deer was on unit 13. This was my first mule deer ever! I promise to put up more pictures and what they scored when i get my mounts back from the taxidermist.
Mule deer story (by request):
A new friend and I got to talking about hunting, and he wanted to go do some deer hunting. I looked up the season dates the following day and found that the last weekend of deer season otc tags for private land was the following weekend. I decided that we should definately hunt my fathers ranch 40 miles outside of Grants. The first day we hunted an area that was thick with woods and had some open draws. we hiked around 12 miles all day long and saw lots of sign, but no deer. We went back to the truck about 40 minutes before sunset and drove through another area near by, which i had seen many deer in over the summer, found sheds, etc.. and sure enough i ran into this 12 point non typical 40 yards off of the dirt road. My friend said to shoot it, which i did. He regretted that, he has only shot fork mule deer, infact he had shot 6 i believe, and he got his 7th fork the following morning. Needless to say we both got the meat in the freezer that we went hunting get.

WOW .....THATS AWSOME!!

Wowsi, All great animals but your goat is superb. Did you have it scored? looks book to me! Anyway, Congrats! Just goes to show that this hunting thing, ain't all rocket science.

Not sure on you speed goats prong length? I would guess your goat would score over 84 inches. Congrats!

This is an elk i found while trying to find elk, not exactly what i was looking for but not gonna complain. Should be getting the deer and antelope mounts back with the scores pretty soon, ill post the scores up with more pics when i get them.

WOW! That one antelope looks like a Booner. If you care, be sure to get him scored. Nice bucks and nice story all around. Thanks for the post.

wow!!! all great animals!nice hair!i would have to say you had one hell of a year.sounds like you got your tags at the last minute.was this your first time hunting this property?thanx for sharing.

Great speed goats! Good job!

Good deer too! When you say 12 pt. NT are you counting all points (eastern style) or just from one side (western style) - not that it matters - He is one helluva buck! The pic doesn't show all his points though so I was curious. Gread dead head too!

The deer tag was last minute, i have hunted this property for about 7 years its my father's ranch, but most of the hunting was rabbit, prairie dog, and coyote. that was my third antelope and the largest. last year i missed one that was much bigger and we have already seen larger ones for this season. I found the elk while elk hunting, i think a bowhunter shot and wounded it the previous season.

Congrats on your trophies, they are good looking bucks. Your speed goat is awesome , I love big speedsters. Tell your buddy I'm just like him on shooting forks , I've killed 4 or 5 and only 3 others that weren't forks. I also have a knack for shooting cow elk, just not this year....I'll never make a trophy hunter as I can't pass on a nice fork or cow....Anyhow , thanks for sharing it and again congrats on your animals....By the way dog is good looking, real good ...ha,ha
