this is the mule deer that i got last season.
And this is the antelope!!
Dad's was almost as big, haha sucker!
Its too bad i didn't see an elk during the muzzleloader hunt, I would have had an excellent year. Antelope was taken at unit 12 and the mule deer was on unit 13. This was my first mule deer ever! I promise to put up more pictures and what they scored when i get my mounts back from the taxidermist.
Mule deer story (by request):
A new friend and I got to talking about hunting, and he wanted to go do some deer hunting. I looked up the season dates the following day and found that the last weekend of deer season otc tags for private land was the following weekend. I decided that we should definately hunt my fathers ranch 40 miles outside of Grants. The first day we hunted an area that was thick with woods and had some open draws. we hiked around 12 miles all day long and saw lots of sign, but no deer. We went back to the truck about 40 minutes before sunset and drove through another area near by, which i had seen many deer in over the summer, found sheds, etc.. and sure enough i ran into this 12 point non typical 40 yards off of the dirt road. My friend said to shoot it, which i did. He regretted that, he has only shot fork mule deer, infact he had shot 6 i believe, and he got his 7th fork the following morning. Needless to say we both got the meat in the freezer that we went hunting get.
