Guys, I just got my 2007 Utah Archery Muley back from the taxidermist, Bruce Capes from Animal Art Taxidermy in Sandy, Utah (801-566-5858) and I wanted to post pics of him for you to see. I only do this because Bruce did such an incredible job on my mount. He's a pretty low-key guy that lets his work speak for himself. Anyway, hope you don't mind me posting the pics. Btw, my story of hunting Superman will be in the upcoming Trophy Hunter Magazine which should be out next week. Thanks.

THE ONLY bobcat THAT KNOWS ALOT OF YOU HAVE HAD THIS IMAGE IN YOUR PEA BRAIN BUT DUE TO POOR SHOOTING TACTICS I'M STILL KICKIN!!!

WOW! That has got to be one of the coolest bucks ever. I saw him up close at the hunt expo, awesome taxy work. Congrats again.

LAST EDITED ON Mar-19-08 AT 08:21PM (MST)[p]That is a great looking taxi job on an unreal buck.

Thanks for sharing. One day I swear it will happen to me? HA! That is definitely a once in a lifetime buck. Congrats on doing what most of us dream about!

Edit; I know it is not really important, but what was his score? Main beam length? I understand if you do not want to post it, but the buck is unreal!

He Gross Scored 229 and Net Scored 220 even. He was over 34" wide, had 10 points on one side and 7 on the other. Pretty Crazy to have a buck like that in my house now! Even crazier when I had him standing broadside at 42 yards!!! Believe me, adrenine was pumpin and nerves were firing!!! But like I said...LuckyShot!

Super nice buck and a 1 of a kind mount Kip!

Sorry I missed you call last night....I had to run all over heck to find one length of round edge for the sheetrock mud project!!

HUGE BUCK and a great mount but sorry - velvet mounts and thin necks just don't do it for me. Love to see them slick polished and all swollen for the rut!

Great trophy though - the taxi did a beautiful job. Would love to see it up close!

I am sorry you had a bad hunt! JK. Looks like you were shooting the new kryptonite tipped Barnes bullets. What a buck. congrats to you my friend!

Kip,

That is one awesome buck. I some day will have a buck like that in my house.

By the way, when are you going to invite some of your Southern Utah Buddies to come up North to hunt with you. Show us the ropes and everything. Do go forgetting your roots.

Great Buck man.

Jeff

Has to be one of the better mounts I've seen. Awesome Buck!! What an excellent addition to any house.

That is a great job on a great buck! I was wondering where you got the pedestal or what the dimensions of it are. I am building one myself at my brother-in-law's cabinet shop for a bull elk that I took in '07. He is not huge huge, 350" but have no idea how big the pedestal mount should be. I haven't talked with my taxi yet cause I want to save money on this end. I can't find anything online either. Any info would be appreciated.

Kip,

Great buck and gorgeous mount.

I absolutely love the pedestal.

echoman, I will get some measurements and post them over the weekend on my pedestal. I had my neighbor make it for me and had a buddy stain it up. I was seriously suprised at how much some guys were charging to do one. You will definately save some money by doing it yourself. I do knoew that this pedestal was very large for a mule deer. It equates to what most guys do for an elk mount so the dimensions should work for you.

I just got a copy of Trophy Hunter tonight. I saw your buck on the cover and it prompted me to get the mag. Haven't read the story yet but I'm gonna as soon as I get off of this dang computer. fatrooster.

That is awesome, I cant wait to read the story, Congrats on a great buck and finding an awesome taxidermist.
