With the deadline this week I have tried to wait and see how everything turned out. I have talked with a couple biologists from Colorado and have been given mixed signals on the winter kill situation. Anyone out there willing answer a couple questions via PM? Western Slope, Central.

Kind of interesting because southwest wyoming is supposed to be having a rough time...not talking to myself just remembering research for this fall's hunt..

Packout-

The view from the highway around Kremmling did not look good last Fri. I saw a lot of deer that did not look good, and more roadkill than I've probably seen since the 80s.

On the way back thru Wolcott and State Bridge yesterday, the deer seemed to be doing OK but again that was just the view from the highway.

Here is Utah I saw a bunch of dead deer over the weekend. It hit them pretty hard here. I can only imagine how the deer did in Colorado.

The guy in the office next to me has been feeding 250-300 deer since the feeding operation began. He told me yesterday that the snow is melting enough to reveal how bad it is. He found two spots where deer had fallen into a hole and couldn't get out. He said there were dozens in each hole. Those that have survived and are getting feed are doing well.

Went over to meeker the other day and probably saw 50+ dead deer along the road from rifle to meeker. I took count from the gun club to town which is about 1 and half to 2 miles and counted 17 dead deer. :-(

Colorad road kill is ALWAYS bad in the winter range areas. Been going now once a month for 17 years and this year I saw LESS in some areas because the deer and elk vacated many traditional areas. Now other than road kill, I dunno. DOW is supposed to do random surveys to determine the damage.
