Just seeing if anyone has hunted by rifle state park area before and if so what can you expect for numbers and quality of mullie and I also heard their were alot of cougers in this area is this true or just hear say???

I hunter there last year. I was dissapointed with the amount of mullies I saw. Locals said it was a tough year. I did see some nice bucks chewing on the ag on private lands. I also saw at least 4 different sets of cougar tracks. I took a cow elk on the trip. But I also did see enough nice bucks harvested from the zone to think I will go back. It was my first year so there was some learning curve to the area.

I have hunted deer in 33 as my second choice since about 2000 as I could get a "extra" cow every year. My father and grandfather were born in Glenwood so it is nice to see the family when hunting for cows.. One of my uncles has a cabin just below the snowmobile parking on the buford road so I grew up riding snowmobiles and dirtbikes all over that country.

Maybe as a second choice for deer it is ok.. Just Ok.. Unless you have a cache of private land there are a ton of hunters.. The sea or oarnge on the public land is beyond belief..

My normal unit that takes 2 points to draw and will not get my 1st choice this year.. With this said I dont think that I am going to put in 33 as my 2nd choice again.. Too many people and all the good bucks are down on private land before the start of the 2nd rifle season..

While riding last summer the sheep herders were complaining of cats getting into the sheep. They said one night a couple of cats killed like 30 sheep and left them lay..

I like to visit the grandma and I will still hunt cow elk in 33 but there are way better area's for deer and they are very close to glenwood..

I have never put a tag on a buck in 33.. I think you could shoot a forkey every year and a ton of people do.. I hunted hunted 4 times in 33 hard and had access to private land.. Never saw a buck above the 150 range to take a shot at..
