Finally got her done

After four years of tag soup on archery elk I finally stuck one at 16 yards on a Utah limited entry elk tag. One of the smaller bulls I was seeing but had to let an arrow fly and glad I did. On the four days I hunted I had elk within 50 yards six different times including a bigger bull six FEET away for over a minute. Nothing like having a six point stare at you several times being so close. At one point I thought he was going to stick his nose on me. I always wondered if I had the balls to keep cool with a 600 pound animal sporting 12 swords so close.

Are you sure that bull wasn't hit by a truck?

Just kidding, Congrats on getting it done!

Very cool, Good Looking bull, He looks like he was a tough place for skinning and cutting.
Going to be some good eating.

Way to go man.!! That's a great bull. Archery elk hunting in Utah, even on the LE units, is very hard. Taking a 6-point bull is definitely an accomplishment. :)

That's the entrance wound. I shot him coming straight in and was so in the moment don't remember the details of the shot. The arrow went through the chest cavity just under the shoulder blade, cut the heart and stopped in the guts. He ran up hill 20 yards and stopped for a few seconds, as I was trying to nock another arrow he did a complete backflip and slid to a stop on the steep slope. Another moment I won't ever forget:)

He went 20 yards and died within 10 seconds and never knew I was there. I feel very blessed and lucky.
