I have hunted the books for the last 10 years. With that said I have never hunted the late hunt. Any info would help. I'm not the guy asking for a honey hole. Are the elk in the same areas they are in now? What can I expect for snow? Can I get a trailer to the divide road or should I expect to camp down low and drive in? Thanks for any advice you can give.

I hope you get some responses flatdead. This is a hunt I'm very interested in for my dad next year (He'll be 62). He and I discussed possibly taking a 3-4 day trip out there this year during the Nov. hunt to see what its like, but that won't help you now with your planning. If we do end up taking that trip, I'd be happy to keep an eye out for you out there. Impart knowledge of any elk we find, etc.

Good luck to you. I'll be very interested to know how you ended up on this hunt.

Hey flatdead, I am in the same boat so I have nothing to help you with, but I have the same hunt and will get there a few days early to do a bit of scouting, maybe we will run into each other out there! Good luck to you!! I will be driving a white Chevy 2500 diesel, Hope to see you with a big set of antlers hanging out of your truck

The late hunt is a lot of fun. The bulls will be all bachelored up again and feeding longer hours of the day. It is my favorite season for the Books. We have had some great success in the past. Just got home from muzzleloader hunting out there. There are more broken bulls this year than I normally see but did still see some good bulls intact. We killed a great bull out there last year on the late hunt that scored 355' broken, would have been in the 375" range intact(can't get a picture to upload). We will be out the week prior to the late season with a buffalo hunter but aren't booked as of yet for late bull if someone decides they need help. www.huntwithgtoutfitters.com
