montana 652

has anyone hunted deer in 652? how is it compared to other breaks units? does being a limited draw upgrade the quality a great deal? will be pouring out the montana ? for awhile . want to make the most out of the combo.

IMO 652 is nothing special. You can find the same quality of deer in the surrounding units. Call the biologist in Glasgow and get some info from them.

From some family that has hunted, kind of the same as what Nemont says. We had better hunting this past year in a different area than they did two years before in 652. They said there were a few less hunters (although they were convinced that there were some hunting on general tags), but they didn't see any better bucks and were confined to that area. Fun unit to hunt, have had the tag 3 times in 9 years. Most bucks are 4 pts. in the 23" to 24" range, unfortunetly the biggest bucks in the 25" to 28" wide are 4x3, this is very typical genetics for this area. Never could figure out why so many people put in for the tag, it's not a trophy unit, just a fun hunt with lots of deer great youth hunt area.

there were decent deer numbers in 652 when i hunted it in 2003 and 2006, but the bucks were no bigger than surrounding units. nevertheless, i enjoyed the hunts. it seemed to me there was less hunting pressure in 652 early in the season compared to later, but that is true in every unit.
