Well here it is 2am and I can not fall asleep for the life of me, and was thinking about some of my favorite times and it always comes out to be times in the outdoors with family and freinds.. Now dont hang me because I dont say that the most special time was when we had kids. Those are very high on the list but the ones that jump out in my mind are in the outdoors. the number one on the list is when me my wife and 2 daughters went to wyoming deer hunting my oldest daughter was the only one with a tag and she was not really hot to get up at 3 am to go hunting, but she went and it ended up being one of the best times we have spent outdoors, maybe because we harvested but also all the ups and downs that day.. so I wanted to post some old pictures that some of you have seen already but some may have not....

this is the photo of the deer we snuck up on after my wife found him in the cliffs from a couple miles away

Did the buck jump at the camera shutter? What great pics and an outstanding hunt with your family.

Those pics are awesome, for those of you who want to see this hunt on film it is on Paul Kendall's Never Enough Vol III. Awesome hunt to watch, wish I could have been the one looking through the scope on that bad boy. Definetly a hunt to remember for a long time. Congrats to you and your daughter.

All of my favorite memories in hunting seem to be with my family. Sure friends are great, but when your young daughter takes her first monster bull that you have called into 50 yards, when your son kills a goose his first morning hunting and you wade into the cold river chest deep with no waders to be sure to retreive his first bird, when your son arrows a great muley buck and you spend hours tracking it to be sure he finds it, or your wife who has sat back and watched the kids succeed, and has gone thru hell with medical problems, and is pretty much restricted to a wheelchair, makes an awesome shot and kills a monster bull, it just doesn't get any better than that. I can't pick one, but I have a grundle of these types of memories that make me so thankful to live where I live, have a family who loves to do what I do, and was brought up with a hunting heritage.
You wonder what people who don't hunt could enjoy any more than what we as hunters sometimes take for granted. Being out in nature, seeing the sights, hearing the sounds, breathing the crisp, cold, morning air, and just getting lost in the moment cannot be summed up in words..
Memories are what it is all about........
Hope you all have had these experiences to make your life so wonderful!!!

Those are awesome photos, thanks for sharing.

I have to agree, family hunting memories are right at the top. Whehter it was watching my son take his first gobbler or ducks at 9, or watching him take his first big game animal, a pronghorn, with a bow at 12 years old, it was all awesome. The best might have been his first elk hunt at 16. He took a nice 6 pt bull with a muzzleloader from a herd where it was bugling and chasing cows right in front of us for several minutes, then went over and demolished a tree, more bugling and finally gave him an open shot that he made perfectly. It was a memory that neither of us will ever forget. Lots of good times around camp as well, it's all great stuff. I can't wait for our next adventure.

Well I have several really great memories with family and friends. My father and I have been hunting together for 30 years and we have some great memories from some great local hunts and out of state hunts. Also, some of my best memories are scouting trips with my dad to E. Oregon and E. Calif.

But hands down my best to date is my 9yr old son taking his first turkey a couple of weeks ago with my father videoing the entire hunt. That is by far the best memory for me.

Been a few over the years, my Dads and my son's 1st elk would be high on the list. But last year My Nephews cow elk would be the lastest. He's from Pa and had never had the chance to hunt here in Wyo..
He was in Iraq and I got him set up for a cow tag before he got back. we lined him out on were to go and he killed the cow on his own. My son helped him get the cow to a trail and they got the cow out on a 4 wheeler.

4 days later him and my dad were with me when I killed my bison in Jackson Hole.

Good post. I have to agree that some of my best hunting memories are times with family and friends. Here are some of my good times?.

Killer photos guys, especially that before and after of the deer! Here is one of my favorites. Finally found a great gal that loves hunting and I guess she was my good luck charm on our first elk hunt together as she spotted this bull, was with me at the shot, and then cleaned and packed half of him out! The first of many great hunts together...AND she insists on having elk ivory put in her engagement band. -Cody

UTHunting, We are working on the ring design. I'm may be young but I'm not too stupid! Finally gave up on the city girls and found a nice, educated, and country-raised woman who was apparently raised just right. Glad she can put up with and join me for most of my many days in the field.

Hopefully I'll be able to harvest a bigger oryx than her this year as she is holding her previous success over me. Tough crowd to hunt with!

You're a brave man Clynt. If I would of been in that situation I never would of dared to snap a picture. With my luck, I would of fumbled to get the lense cap off, the buck would of whirled around to see me, in the excitement I would of dropped the camera, and the buck would of stepped on it four or five times before leaving the vincinity at mach 5. Only thing I would of been able to post was the story and a picure of my post stampede camera :)

That is a cool picture and looks like it was a great trip!!

Great photos all... I think the best thing about hunting memories is you get to keep them all of your life. My favorite hunting memories that will always be my fondest are the ones with my Dad of course. He's gone now as well as many of the other family members and friends that were part of my life growing up and while I may have lost them I get to keep the memories....
