Me and a buddy got some 3rd season tags and was wondering how everybody had done in the last couple years. I have heard of some good bucks being taken and was looking for some insight if anyone new the unit. Thanks for the help in advance! I know the bookcliffs and some other units in utah very well if you want to trade some info. Thanks.

The big bucks on this unit are few and far between. There are some, but most are on the private property around the valley hayfields. Get some maps, find the public land, and get as close to the hayfields as possible, down some of the drainages that follow carpenter ridge down the valley. Due to all the private land, and thick timber, this is probly one of the most difficult units to hunt in Colorado.just_another_hunter, on here, use to guide for the major land owner there, mostly on the Utah side, but he knows this area like the back of his hand. Maybe he will throw in his 2 cents worth. good luck.

The only good thing I can say about this unit, is it's one of the best grouse hunting units in Colorado.

Unless you get access to the private, you won't have a very fruitful hunt if your looking for something bigger then a 2.5 year old. There are some good bucks around but take a load of work to get. Tex270 hit the nail on the head. Pack into that steep, rugged, nasty country around Paradox for best results. All this being said, Unit 60 is always my 2nd choice when it comes time to fill out applications. What I have to do is be discouraged from day one. That way I'm never disapointed.

Good luck friend,

Todd

I just re read my post, and I don't think I gave you anything to look forward to. Sorry about that. I will mention that that 220ish nontypical buck that made the cover of Eastmans back in 2000 (I think thats the correct year) came from Unit 60 public ground. That same buck was also featured in one of the Eastman video's as the hunter filmed his own hunt.

Good luck again, (You're gonna need it)

Todd
