Are there some good deer on the Unit ??

I have to ask, what circumstances led to your applying for that hunt with such a minimal notion of what to expect? I'm just curious and I figured I'd ask and give you a chance to put it on here before you get pounced on by the MM Troll Patrol.

I'm not sure what to tell you specifically, but it's a good unit with some great bucks, but it's not exactly the draw 2B is.

Oh I see. Well, NM 2C is pretty widely concidered one of the top 4 (3?) (2?) (1?) premere public land trophy mule deer hunting oportunity in the free world.

I'll be honest, it's a little off-putting to hear you ask about drawing that tag like you found it in a garage sale (it's not you it's me) It's like wondering up to King Arthurs round table and saying "hey Pellimore- how much do you think I could get for this Holy Grail I found". A bit of an exaggeration, but I'm surprised you haven't caught some more flak over it.

So- how DID you find yourself drawn for that tag and know nothing about it??

Yeah
Mid 170s is a reasonable expectation.
An A+ unit in NM, but for comparison would be a C to C+ unit in CO.

Well, I see I lost a tag to someone who does not the country or the unit, again.

Am I jealous, Yes. The unit is one of the best New Mexico has.

If you knew that the reputation of the unit boarding the Jic and the animals produced over the years, you would know what you were in for.

Just to let you know there are Big, Big bucks in that country.

Hey Guys,
My nephew and I drew 2B late archery and I already got my map in the mail and am looking for any general info of areas to scout. I live in Spokane Wa so we will only make one scouting trip sometime this summer. Any info to help narrow the search would be great. We would be thrilled to get into 170 class bucks.

bring a set of 4 chains for your truck,food,water,warm clothes, extra tires,extra gas/Diesel and a tow chain or strap, we prepared to camp over night in case you get stuck really bad in some hell hole.

The good news is there are some great bucks in that unit.
